Glue for Screen Fuzzy Seals

Along with replacing all my window gaskets I want to replace the "screen fuzzy seals" around the window lifters.

I have the fuzzy seals, but am wondering if there is a recommended adhesive for attaching the seals to the screen frames?

Thanks!
- Mark

Mark, we used a contact adhesive from the local Ace hardware when we replaced them all in our trailer. You need to remove the old adhesive. I used steel wool dipped in mineral spirits, IIRC. The fuzzies have all stayed in place for two years so far. The best decision I made with this task was to get my wife to do it! Nick.

Try 3M's Clear Plastic and Emblem adhesive, available at many auto parts stores.
If you live in the south, contact adhesive will just plainly melt.

Thanks! Found the 3M adhesive at the local Pep Boys.

Have not tried it yet - got busy redoing the vent gaskets and installing a new water pump.

Nick, you are a smart man!

I was getting ready to head to the hardware store and my wife says "is there anything I should work on while you are gone?"

I get home 45 minutes later and she is almost finished

Fuzzy Screen Seals

Ok, this is my project for the weekend. I've received the fuzzy seals. Now a few questions....do you take the window arm out to put them in....does the window handle unscrew from the arm. Maybe some dumb questions, but I can't get it right in my head and certainly don't want to mess it up. Thanks!

Kathy, I took the window bugscreen frames out so that they could be worked on flat, on the table. I disconnected the arms, and then unscrewed the frames. I didn't unscrew the handles from the arms, but just used a screwdriver and wrench to undo the setscrew and nut that attaches each arm to the window. Open the window and work from the outside to remove the setscrews which attach the arms to the windows, and leave the handles in place..

Kathy, I've edited the last post, as I was getting the job mixed up with another one to do with windows. Sorry.
Nick.

My Sovereign must be different from your Tradewind because the fuzzy seals are between the two pieces of aluminum holding the window arm in place. The window arm has the knob on the inside and an attached washer on the outside where it meets the window.

I'm thinking I may need to feed the fuzzy stuff down in the crevice around the window arm, then glue the bottom. Just didn't know if there is a better way.

Kathy, is there a series of screws holding the bugscreen frame to the trailer? If so, remove all these after disconnecting the handles, and then lay the screen face down on your worksurface. If that doesn't make sense, maybe a photo would help, if you have a digital camera handy.

Maybe that's the part that is missing in my head. You attach the fuzzy seals to the screen frame. I'll look at it again tonight and see if I can get it right. Thanks!
