Blower in bathroom?

I discovered a toggle switch right next to a little nose shaped cover in the rear bathroom of my 71 TradeWind. It is located right next to the toilet in the lower rear plastic cover panel. What is it? A vent? Vacuum? Where does it go?I can't seem to find an exhaust vent for it? I can hear a blower come on when I flick the switch.

More than likley it is your bathroom vent fan. It was not untill later in the 70's hat they started putting them in the roof. I find it very convienent being able to turn on he vent fan while having a set. I have no "exaust port" on the exterior either. I think it vents into the belly of the coach somewhere, but I cannot tell for sure where.

Blower in mine is located in vanity next to toilet and output is directly down to the bellypan.

UWE Ialso have the same setup the blower you hear is in the closet in the bathroom and vents thru the belly pan on the curb side all the way to the rear of your coach . Its a real nice feature except it vents right where you do your intertaining

Mine blowes right into the cabinet. Is it supposed to???

I'm replacing water heater and part of the cabinet. I was simply not going to reinstall the blower...unless I can be convinced that its functional.

If you have everything out of the way you can always change the oulet location. I am considering changing mine when I put the new waste tank in next spring. I am thinking all of the heavy black vent hose may have to be replaced with something a bit more modern. There is about three feet of excess vent hose in mine. The blower is a bit noisey, so a new motor may be considered but I will either leave it be or modernize it. Just ripping it out and not replacing it may be something you wished you had not done later when things need venting

I don't think the vent is supposed to vent into the cabinet??????? Mine is a belly pan type discharge (at least for the moment.

I don't see any way it could have been vented to the belly pan. I'm sure the floor is original, however, the original owner left paperwork that indicated the factory waterheater was recalled. Perhaps during the recall, the vent pipe to the fan was not re-installed and a partial floor replacement was done???

The bath exhaust fan that's in the cabinet that hides the water heater, was always noisy.

It's supposed to be hooked up with a flexible hose, to a fitting in the flloor and then thru the underbelly. That's how Airstream original made that installation.

Since the cubic interior feet of even a 31 foot trailer is small, it was felt that it would be very nice to exhaust those unfavorible odors, to the exterior, instead of letting them slowly dissipate within the interior.

Since mine had no vent hose, I thought it was there to mask unfavorable bathroom noises.

Would a flexible hose to a fitting on the black vent pipe work to exhaust some of those unfavorable odors or should I cut a hole in the floor to the underbelly?

Here's a pic of one in a 71. It was originally a black fiber tubing just shoved down in a rough cutout in the floor. The vent tubing was replaced when the water heater was changed out.
