Looks like the remains of an old 2 prong 110 volt 15 amp AC inlet.
I had one on a canned ham I once owned. It was just big enough to push the end of a shaved down extension cord into.
Cancel it out or possibly replace it and rewire with a modern 3 prong grounded outlet for use outside.

I believe there was a light fixture that fit into that socket.

Yea, Right. Is the plate and cover by the door?
I remember someone showed up at one of our Rallys with an early '60's trailer. It was a Halloween theme and he plugged in a light with a plastic pumpkin on it.

If it is by the door, it is for a light fixture. If it is about half way on the camper , it is an outside plug.

Ok I think I have this figured out...took a pic with a flashlight down the hole (insert inappropriate joke here)...realized it was not electrical but plumbing. 2nd and 3rd pic shows that the pipe goes to the toilet drain vent. So I'm thinking this is a port to insert the water hose to flush out the holding tank (see last pic). What does everyone think? Am I right?

Also I like the porch light idea...I have one of those outlets under the awning. Gotta get me one of those plug in lights.

You are probably correct, if it is on the street side close to the back of the camper. Airstream hide cool little things on the trailers all the time. My clean out is in the back service compartment on a y fitting. I'm always finding cool little things like this.

Dang .... now that beats a tank rinser thingy with simplicity. Just fill and dump a few times and Clean tank.
