From your question, I am not sure whether you are referring to just the glass being broken or the frames and operators being an issue as well. There isn't anything terribly unusual about the glass utilized in 1960s era Airstream travel trailers . . . it is just plain window glass cut to size. The products used will vary to some degree according to the year of your trailer, but typically there will be a bedding tape, a gasket, and with some a finishing gasket/molding as well. These products to restore the window panes are readily available from several sources including Inland RV, Vintage Trailer Supply, as well as a number of other Vintage Friendly Airstream dealers. Operators can be a bit more difficult to find, but they are often available from the same sources as the window pane replacement materials. The securing catches have spotty availability depending upon the year, and I am not certain about
1960 models (the
1964 catches have always been readily available).
Should the windows need replacement due to missing or badly damaged originals, the best alternative may be to find a similar vintage/size trailer in a salvage yard that can donate the necessary parts. Nuances of side wall curvature and window sizes can make adapting windows from other year/models a difficult process . . . it can be done, but will take careful measurement and planning.
Good luck with your investigation!
