gutting
Depending on how much you're tearing out you might want to wear at least a charcoal filter mask (HD) for all of the old dust, mites, rodent stuff etc. Also, that vintage had the asbestos fiber floor tiles, that when scraped out should be done with precautions. Good luck!

Lucky for us the floor tiles are gone. Those and the old mastic or whatever it was they used to put them down were saturated with that stuff...I have a heavy duty mask and can't get my husband to use one, I'm going to keep pressuring him.
There's mice poop in various places; still; the shell is good and it's got the potential we'd hoped for.
We're doing more work today, and I'll be putting up a whole website on this endeavor...!

nope, still some tiles
There are about 5 tiles in the floor still. but we're going to rip out the whole floor, the entire edge of it is rotted all the way around pretty much.

Ingrid,
Save the bathroom sink/vanity top and tub. They might look bad, but as long as there are no major cracks, you can get them refinished very nicely. You can find refinishing companies in the phone book. Most of them give free estimates.

argh!
They're in the back of the truck, ripped to shreds. He finally admitted (just now after I told him that) that we should research these things before we do too much more (that's what I've been telling him) but I just said, "We can start doing that from here on out".
another lesson learned...

Oops. Too bad. Part of the charm of the 60's trailers were their bathroom fixtures. The rounded tubs and vanity tops are hard to come by.

Ooh, oh, ooh! Even so, don't throw the tub and vanity pieces out yet!!!
You still might be able to either salvage the parts or use them as templates for reconstruction. I'm doing fiberglass repair on my tub, so I know what you have is probably repairable. So long as you can fit most of the tub pieces together, you can probably put the humpty dumpty tub back together again. The result will look brand new and fit better than any after market tub or shower you can obtain. Really! If not, save the pieces--you'll probably find someone here who needs a fitting tub, even broken up.
As for the cabinet, that might be tougher (wood isn't quite the regeneratable substance that fiberglass is). You can use the pieces to do a recreation--remember, the fit to the curved surface at the back of an airstream is very difficult--so a model is good to use. You should be able to trace a pattern off the countertop at least--and that will save you many hours of fussy adjustments down the road.
Oh, and if you have any cabinet hardware--I wonder if I could buy some from you? There's a few pieces I'm trying to find (pm me).
