Well Hello There Mr. Cyclo...Bring On Your Shine
Our most amazing and extremely detailed friend Thomas (an extremely cool dude) has become enthralled with the AS. Formerly a truck driver, he's quite the "master polisher" and, since agreeing to help us polish our AS.....has taken all things shiny to an entirely different level!!!
Tomorrow's the day....double cyclo's in da house!!!!
Have a great weekend all

Oh, my heart be still! We went to Stuttgart this Christmas (as well as other parts of Germany)... fell in love with some lovely 356's.. and I wouldn't mind a Panamera either! (Now wouldn't that make a nice tow vehicle? Gotta ask Andy T about that! )
I do think the Cayanne would make a nice TV... but I'm sure you're Tundra will do fine. I do like our nice smooth riding Sequoia..
About the cyclo's... I did find a nice 60's vintage one on CL last summer (I was such a steal I ended up paying the older gentleman MORe than he was asking.. I couldn't buy it in good faith knowing what they were worth)... I was thinking about polishing IT up.. such a nice "retro" design. Just have to get to where I can USE the darn thing though!

I really really miss my little car....its' someday in a land far-far-away replacement is the Boxster Spyder....drooled on one the other day at the dealer.
I went shopping while the three guys (including Glenn who didn't sit in his man-chair at all today) cyclo'd the AS...funny, it's really shiny as it is, certainly sexier shiny after the cyclo. Not sure I would use the vintage one...but then what else would I do with it?
Hope to meet you at an upcoming rally

I'm Outta Control!!!
Completely spur of the moment, I decided to get a tattoo. I have a few discreetly placed Sailor Jerry tattoos...thought I was done. Not so much.
Definitely gone over the top with this one!

Simply unbelievable!!!
We're now less than two weeks until hitting the road for Palm Springs. We have been going non-stop since being accepted into the Vintage Trailer Show during Modernism Week - all the while I kept hearing "tick tock" in my head as the departure date grew nearer.
The most monumental task was polishing our AS...word of caution for those considering this: once you start down the path of removing clear coat and applying that first dab of lovely Nuvite #9 THERE IS NO GOING BACK!! It becomes this oddly addictive entity: the incessant whir of the polisher(s)...and the endless trips to Napa for more 3M buffers; the black floofy things in my hair, ears, nose; and the ultimate prize, the deep steady hum/throb/whatever you call it, of the Cyclo!!
Another little tidbit: it doesn't stop with the polishing...first you'll want to polish those corroded window frames; then the banana belt and, just for the fun of it, maybe hand paint/detail those lovely AS letters.
Could we have done it without a ton of help from of WBCCI friends? NOPE
Is it worth it? HECK YA!!!
Do I now have an awesome doorbell? Just call me Lucy!!!
Enjoy
M

W-O-W!! Where's the new wheels? Can you shrink wrap the front for the drive down? Less bugs to clean...

Marc....funny you should mention that...we've seriously been considering having that invisible bra (?) put on the front just like I have on the Cayenne...that front panel was soooo hard to polish!!
Lisa...thanks - you know I'll post pics, lots of em!! At the rate we're going you might just be able to see the glow as we head to Cali
Cheers

Definitely NOT Your Traditional Zip Dee - Heck Ya!!!
Our friends at Airstream Adventures NW actually came to our garage after their biz closed, and installed what I think is one of the most beautiful awnings ever!!
The colors are beautiful, the transition from outside to inside - perfect and, the best part of it all, when it's open and you're standing underneath it...the colors make your feel HAPPY!!!
Next on the list: finish applying rockstar blue pinstriping on the rub rail; touch-up paint on the AS letters front & back; install our new "personalized" WBCCI #s and new wheels (finally!!)...oh, and replace the dimmer switch we fried installing the doorbell
Whoo Hoo!!!

A friend of mine uses Pam nonstick spray on her car in FL to lessen the sticking of bugs. Swears by it. And I've witnessed how easy it is to clean them off. In many years of using it, it hadn't hurt the finish on the cars. I would be curious if it would apply to aluminum?!

Rae...
It's an interesting idea...it's funny how our friend Thomas, the master detailer and work process flow friend who has taken charge of this work, so I'm going to share the Pam idea with him...but that's only after he gets rid of my husband's greasy fingerprints he left on the door last nite!!
Also had a recommendation to get a Spray Detailer at an automotive supply store...0 amonia...sorta like Windex
Thanks for the tip!
