tammy, I might suggest you do a rubbing of the plate as well as photos. My trailer came with an incorrect title it appeared as 1 262 T 123 on the title, but on the trailer it was I 262 T 123. The MVA took up many hours of my time while they "researched it". After three hours I was told that every title back to 1971 appears to have a "1" I was told that both I and the state inspection center were obviously mistaken. They told me I was worried about nothing. I felt that if I were ever to sell the trailer in another state, that, that state might have an issue with this mistake. I took it as a challenge to prove myself right. The following day a returned carrying a jug of coffee and two dozen donuts from Krismy Kreme. Also in my hand was a rubbing of the plate and 8 x 10 photos with circles and arrows pointing to the "I". It took them about 3 minutes to change the title. They never did say thanks for the coffee and donuts. I would think that unless that trailer was reported stolen way back when, you should be able to get a new title issued to you with a bill of sale that includes the vin number as it appears on the trailer. when you have it inspected, they will also record that number on the inspection certificate. Good lick and congratulations on your new trailer. what's her/ his new name?
