Hi John,
Yours would be a whole new deal since your trailer is intact. Remember our frame is wide open to work on so getting the axles on is a lot "easier" if that is possible. My guess would be to have Toscano do it. It wasn't too complicated, but that doesn't mean it wasn't a big pain!! Oh, removing the old ones involved some whacks with a sledgehammer...

What in the ....!

Ingrid, If you add a few stick people to that I think drawing you will have the same basic stuff I saw in some caves out west 25 years ago! Seriously, what is up? Are we having moisture issues at the bottom of a window or what? Happy Trails, Ed

Update

Ingrid, Was working on the Landshark's interior yesterday and just had enough advanced warning to put the giant black plastic bag back over the trailer last night at about 10 P.M. to save it from the Ice Storm that started at 8:30 A.M. today! Now it looks like a real cold snap for at least a week to come. That's okay though as the TV goes into the shop on Monday to repair all the damage that was done when I hit a 5Point buck on I-80 the first week of October. I was doing about 68 mph and was unlucky enough that when I swerved to avoid a head on with him that the right front and side took the brunt of the damage. He did not survive the encounter and was too heavy to load into the bed of the truck so I called the State Police so they could collect the remains. In Illinois if it is a fresh kill they pick it up and feed it to Zoo animals. So The Pickup will be in the body shop for at least 8-10 days. Maybe by then the bad weather will have cleared. How is you trailer going. I really need to see new pics. Happy Trails, Ed

Wow

You easterners have a much different life than we do! Where I live we start freaking out over a strong wind and a few sprinkles, and we risk hitting a squirrel now and then.

There won't be much progress here, none in fact, until about January. I am going to finish up a few rusty frame spots and put tires back on when the 2nd axle is on, and we can pull the frame back under the trailer (but not attach it). Hubster says he'll try to put on 2nd axle next weekend.

Cheers!

Well, I watch those Geico commercials all the time about swerving to avoid the squirrel. I guess I never noticed the CA. plate on the car! Must be a good feeling to get the other axle ready to install. Won't it be great to have the frame and both axles back together? I'll be watching for your progress. Ed

Thumbs up 2nd axle is on!

Bless Jeff, both axles are now installed and I'm going to POSSIBLY spend New Year's Day finishing up a few rusty spots on the frame and finishing painting wheels. All depends on tonight's level of celebration.

Happy New Year Everyone!

Okay, Let not make this the first resolution you break this year.... Seriously, I hope the best for you, Jeff and the family this year! I'm snowed in today we got 5 inches at my house yesterday. Now the temps are supposed to be dropping into the single digits tonight! Baby... that's ccccold. Happy Trails, Ed

My level of accomplishment on New Year's Day was in inverse proportion to my level of celebration on New Year's Eve.

In other words I finished the wheels!

Yaaaayyy!! Axles !! Wheels !!

Congrats Ingrid (and Jeff..) for getting both axles slipped on, and the wheels done.. Assuming there are some kinds of brakes and lights, there shouldn't be any excuse for missing Casini... Maybe even a flatbed-stream with tent tied to frame? Should be warm enough in April for tent-camping if heater and interior not finished...

Update!!!!

Ingrid, How about an update on your project? I'm currently working at a nuke plant in Wisconsin and wanted to find out how things are progressing with the Tradewind. Happy Trails, Ed

Hi all

OK so now we tried to put the wheels back on the trailer only to find that they won't fit on the new axles. No problem; we were going to get new ones soon anyway, now we're getting them sooner.

If anyone is in the market for some wheels that take the baby moons, let me know. I'm going to post them in the classifieds too.

Wer'e still here and haven't given up! I'm training for a century ride around Lake Tahoe, June 1st, through Team In Training, to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and although it's taken up a lot of time I think it was the break from thinking about The Trailer Project that I needed. I've learned a lot about perseverence as well. Hopefully it will get me back to silver.

If you want to support me in my century, go here:Team in Training

If you just want to read about it, go here:

rims

We got new wheels! The frame can now be moved around so we can work on it, tanks, wiring, all that.

I put the old rims up in a classified ad here on the forums. They're good for baby moons.

Off to clean the weeds that grew under the frame, taller than my 9 year old...

Rumors of my death...

...have been greatly exaggerated. Still here, still love my baby.

If you want to make progress on your trailer, do NOT buy Guitar Hero.

Been wonderin...

You're on pace to make Casini 2012 at current rate, but we're still eager to see it... Hope the home improvement contracting biz is making up for new construction slowdowns..

Know the feeling somewhat as ours hasn't moved since returning from Casini, other than short trip to shop in Los Banos.. Sigh... It's getting ready for Jackson however, with warm-up run to Tucson and Williams and Lake Havasu on the way...

Ingrid--if you still have the wheels with the clips, I would be interested in buying one of them, if you will part the set.
