"New" 1968 Trade Wind

Hello fellow Trade Wind owners!

We recently took the plunge and bought a 1968 Trade Wind from Craigslist and were thrilled to find that it's in great shape...especially for being older than either of us. We've already learned a great deal from these forums and I'm sure we'll be soliciting advice regularly because we're both travel trailer novices. It's daunting, but we're up for the challenge - our goal is to be traveling around the country within a year, for at least a year.

We've started a web page that we'll use for tracking progress on the trailer's renovation, which is likely to be dramatic (but respectful). Look forward to interacting with all of you...

Sloan and April

Nice photos on the website, too!

Welcome!!! I am also the proud owner of a 1968 Tradewind... I am also rather young when put in perspective that this trailer has been around almost twice as long as I have... I am 21, and have owned it for about a year and a half now. Give the WBCCI a shot, go to some rallies. I promise you that if you give them a chance, they will really catch you off guard. I have been traveling in Airstreams for about 10 years now, and in the WBCCI just as long- the people are great, and it's so nice to meet all the other AS owners, and get to look at other vintage AS's! Good luck with your journey, I hope to do the same soon- but we are in the midst of a full, shell-off restoration (check out the pics on my photos page) But we hope to have the shell back on before winter and ready to roll around for next year. Happy trails and safe traveling! --Chad--

Congrats, sounds like a lucky find. If you ever want to come hang out with our group, the Oregon unit of the WBCCI, let me know. Sounds like you've got plans to hit the road and stay there awhile, which is pretty cool. Do it while you have the freedom to do so!
