Moparjohn,
The photo does not sound familiar to me. Not knowing the year of the Airstream nor the year of the photo makes this hard, but here is some partial information on WBCCI # 2820 from that time period: - 2820 was first assigned in 1959.
- In 1959-60 it was assigned to Ned and Caroline Leach of Seattle, WA, no caravans.
- In 1961-68 it was assigned to Bryan and Joan Syer originally of Lincroft, NJ, (later Red Bank, NJ), no caravans.
- Unassigned in 1969.
- In 1970 and probably later it was assigned to Harold & Margaret Christen of Fort Wayne, IN, no caravans as of 1970.
- I did not check beyond 1970.
Since you are from NJ, I might guess that is where your unit member is also from and likely where the photo may have originated, thus making the Syers a very possible owner of the Airstream with the doggies.

Thanks! I'm not sure when the photo was taken, it is "real art" not just a large family photo. I wish I could post a pic. John

Remember the numbers went with the club member, not the trailer. Still interesting

Hi Brandy,
The serial number confirms your recent find is a 1964 26' Overlander with double bed built in Ohio. The WBCCI number 5854 was first assigned in 1961 before your Overlander was built and thus first appeared in the 1962 Membership Directory, so we cannot be totally sure when those numbers were applied to the trailer. #5854 was assigned in the Membership Directories over the years as follows:
1962-66: Mrs. Voilet Smith, Greenwood, IN, caravans 29 - Mexico Winter 1962 & 33 - Eastern Canada Summer 1963.
1967: I am missing this directory.
1968-71: Omer Rebah Nicely, Danville, Ind., no caravans.
1972: Unassigned.
1973-78: Robert & Elaine Tague, Wonder Lake, IL, no caravans.
1979-81: Unassigned.
1982-1993: William T & Letha M Hook, Weedsport, NY, caravans 143 - Mexico West to East Winter 1983 & 154 - Christmas in Guadalajara Winter 1984 and three numbered WBCCI Region and National Caravans.
1994-95: Unassigned.
1996: Barry & Indra Remsburg, Seattle, WA, no caravans.
1997-98: Unassigned.
1999: Steven & Vicki Weiner, Evergreen, CO, no caravans.
2000-01: Unassigned.
2002-Current: Assigned to current members who I will not identify on this public forum.
Given that you are in Indiana, and assuming you rescued the Airstream close by, I will guess that it is most likely that the Voilet Smith and/or Omer Nicely may have owned your Airstream. If Violet owned it, she would have had to upgrade from whatever Airstream she owned when she joined the club in 1961. Since the serial number of your Airstream indicates it was built in the middle of the model year, I doubt she could have gotten it early enough to take it on her 1963 caravan. It is possible that Violet Smith sold her Airstream to Omer Nicely, so it is possible that both may have owned the same Airstream (yours or something different).
Of course it is also possible that Tagues owned your 1964 Overlander if their town in IL is close to you. I think it less likely that the Tagues owned the same Airstream as either Mrs. Smith or Mr. Nicely because of the unassigned years in between. It seems most likely that the Tague's got a randomly reassign of an unused number when they joined the club.
I doubt that any of the later assignee's owned your Overlander becuase they were not from Indiana nor any adjoining state.
That said, these are only guesses because the club does not keep records of the Airstreams owned by club members, nor used on caravans. In any case, enjoy your new Airstream!

Hi John,
Looking up past WBCCI Member information is time consuming. I just don't have the time to look up the number on an unknown Airstream in an "art photo". I try to help owners with the numbers on an Airstream they own or maybe on one they are thinking of purchasing. Sometimes, I get way behind doing even that. I hope you understand.
I can tell you that #2820 would have been first assigned in 1959 and being a low 4-digit number likely has been reassigned several times over the years since then.

Can you provide any information on #22831? I bought the trailer in Pennsylvania almost ten years ago but believe it was in West Virginia prior to that.
Thanks.

To keep things easier for me, I prefer to answer these types of questions in the thread titled Research by WBCCI Number?:
http://www.airforums.com/forums/f286...ber-19191.html
I will try to answer these requests here, but ask that future requests be directed to the other thread if possible. I also ask that all such requests indicate the year and model of the Airstream as well as the location where it was found, to help narrow down the possibilities since WBCCI numbers were reassigned over the years. Thanks.

Joe,
I will post this request via the thread you referenced. My trailer is a 1967 Trade Wind. Thank you for your help.

I am taking these requests in the order they were posted and you are next. I assume 22831 is the number on your 1967 Tradewind, though you did not specifically state so. #22831 was first assigned by WBCCI in 1968, thus first appearing in the 1969 membership Directory, which could be appropriate for a 1967 Airstream. Here is how 22831 has been assigned over the years according to old Membership Directories:
- 1969-76: R.J. Jr. & Nancy Lucas, Beckley, WV, no caravans.
- 1977-78: Unassigned.
- 1979-81: Charles & Mary Glasgow, Ocean Springs, MS (1979), Dallas, TX (1981), no caravans.
- 1982+: Unassigned, but only spot checked a few directories.
Given this information and what you had previously been told, we can make the educated guess that the Lucas' owned your 1967 Tradewind, but the Glasgows did not (they appear to have just been randomly reassigned a then unsed number).
That's all I got. I hope it helps.

Hi Uppla,
WBCCI #16513 was first assigned in 1966 first appearing in the 1967 Membership Directory. here is how 16513 has been assigned over the years:
- 1967-80: Floyd C. & Beatrice Huggett, Battle Creek, Michigan, USA, no caravans.
- 1981-84: Unassigned.
- 1985-87: Frank J. Willms, Essex, Ontario, Canada, no caravans.
- 1988+: Unassigned, but only spot checked a few directories.
Being that 16513 was not first assigned approximately the same year your 1962 Airstream was made and not knowing where you got it, it is hard to guess if the Huggetts or Mr. Willms were the most likely prior owner. Maybe some paperwork you got with the trailer, or a deal decal or emblem can point to prior ownership in Michigan, USA or Ontario, Canada.
That's all I got. Enjoy your vintage Airstream!

WBCCI #14962 was first assigned in 1966, thus first appearing in the 1967 Memberhip Directory. Here is how that number has been assigned over the years:
- 1967-80: Jack H. & Cleo Burnett, Odessa, TX, no caravans.
- 1981-84: Unassigned.
- 1985-2013: A couple (names withheld due to privacy concerns) from Fremont, CA (1985), Orland, CA (2013), no caravans.
- 2014+: Unassigned.
It would seem most likely that the Burnett's owned your 1966 Overlander, not the couple from California. That's all I got. Enjoy your Overlander!

At this point I must return to answering these types of questions in the thread titled Research by WBCCI Number? because several requests in that thread are now the oldest existing requests:
http://www.airforums.com/forums/f286...ber-19191.html
I will once again ask that these types of requests be posted in that thread as it is much easier for me to keep track of them in a single thread. I also ask that all such requests indicate the year and model of the Airstream as well as the location where it was found, to help narrow down the possibilities since WBCCI numbers were reassigned over the years.
I cannot say for certain when I will get back to this thread. Thanks for your understanding.

We purchased this Airstream in Sept of 2018. We are in the process of restoring her. Since purchasing we have lifted the shell made repairs to the frame and sandblasted and powder coated. We’ve rebuilt the windows she had but still figuring out how to get the remainder. After replacing the sub flooring the shell is back on. We are anxious to have her fully restored
