It can now!

It may have lived quite the adventurers life it just may not be documented. You know what we need an Airstream psychic someone who can go in a trailer and tell us its story.

There you go. We could find out what those blue numbers mean. Do they have A/S psychic at the rallies? If not..... someone is missing an opportunity!

This forum is great. So many people who care and are knowledgable about so many different things. Thank you all so much!
I appreciate the help!

OK, I got a little more time, so I peeked at my directories after 1988. The Swanders are still listed in my 1989 and 1991 Directories, but they are in Port Aransus, OK in 1989 and Canton, OK in 1991, still with no caravans.

1387 is unlisted in my 1993 Directory, but then in 1994 & 1995 it is assigned to Partick and Karen Menard of Louisville, KY. In 2001 #1387 is assigned to someone else from Oakland, MI. In 2004 & 2005 it is assigned to someone else from Moorhead, MN. It is then unassigned form 2006-2009 and was then reassigned to yet someone else from Tacoma, WA in the current 2010 Directory.

Since the club readily reassigns available numbers I would suggest that all members that were assigned 1387 after the Swanders did not own your trailer.

And with that I have exhausted my resources.

Wow. Thank again Joe! This was far more than I expected to find out.

Can anyone shed light on history of 3147? Inherited them when we bought the '76 Sovereign. 3147 is issued to us now, just curious who might have originally had it in mid to late 70's. Thanks.

In the 1976 WBCCI Membership Directory, reflecting membership at the end of 1975, #3147 was assigned to Walter and Johnnie Holt of Thomasville, GA. It is unlikely the Holts owned your trailer, but not impossible if it was built in late 1975 as a 1976 model.

In the 1978 Directory (I have no 1977 Directory), #3147 is unassigned.

In the 1979 Directory (reflecting membership at the end of 1978), #3147 is assigned to Frank and Anita Holland of Amarillo, TX. The Hollands are last listed in the 1982 Directory, but with no numbered caravans listed. It is entirely possible that the Hollands owned your trailer.

#3147 is then unassigned until the 1987 Directory in which it is assigned to a couple from Wisconsin, who were last listed in the 2001 Directory. It is doubtful that the Wisconsin couple owned your trailer.

That's the best I can do.

Can anyone help me with a couple of numbers. I have a 1967 Caravel which previously had number 10394. I have been assigned a new number 1910. Can anyone tell me who previously had these numbers.

Thanks in Advance,

#2574 was first assigned in 1959, so the number is probably original to your trailer. (The duct tape - not original to your trailer.)

In my 1960 WBCCI Membership Directory, which reflects membership at the end of 1960, #2574 is assigned to Clarence and Gertrude Inman of Fresno, CA. The Inmans are last listed in the 1970 Directory (membership at the end of 1969). They are listed as having participated on the following caravans: 27 - Kentucky Derby - Indianapolis - Summer 1961 , 31 - Western Mexico - Fall 1962, and 33 - Eastern Canada - Summer 1963. We cannot be totally sure your trailer belonged to the Inmans without seeing a 1959 Directory, but it's likely they owned it. If so, it is not certain that your trailer was on these caravans without other evidence, but it certainly is possible.

In the 1971 Directory, #2574 has been reassigned to Hubert and Ella Mund of Cathay's Valley, CA. The Munds are last listed in the 1975 Directory. They are not listed as having participated on any numbered caravans. It is possible, but not certain that the Munds also owned your trailer. I suggest this for two reasons. First both the Inmans and the Munds lived in California, so a sale from one to the other is possible. Second, there were no years that #2574 was unassigned between them. Typically when a member does not renew, the number was left unassigned for a couple of years in case they later decided to rejoin. Immediate reassignment suggests that the Inmans told the club it was OK to reassign the number, possibly because they sold their trailer.

#2574 was then unassigned until 1980, at which time it was assigned to Marshall & Beulah Thomas of San Angelo, TX. It is much more improbable that the Thomas' owned your trailer given the different state they lived in. The Thomas' are last listed in the 1989 Directory and are not listed as having participated on any numbered caravans.

Since then #2574 has been assigned to a couple from Virginia and then a couple from Iowa, each for a few years. I doubt they owned your trailer.

Researching numbers can be a bit time consuming. I have done enough for one night. I'll try to get to you guys in the next few days.

Hi Donna,
Quick reply. #19506 was first assigned in 1967, so that is a definite fit for your Tradewind. This # was originally assigned to Lea (typo got "Leo"?) and Mary Callison of Renick, West Virginia. Leo and Mary Callison are still listed in my 1976 Directory, but not my 1978 Directory (I have no 1977 Directory). In 1976, they were still in Renick, WV. They are not listed as having participated on any numbered caravans. I hope you get much enjoyment out of your "new" Airstream.
