#7563 would have first been issued during 1962. In my 1966 WBCCI Membership Directory that number was assigned to Eugene and Hazel Broberg of Boulder, CO. No caravans are listed. The number is unassigned in my 1975 Directory.

#20603 would have been origfinally assigned in early 1968. In my 1975 Directory 20603 is assigned to Richard and Adah Leighton of Pigeon, MI. They are listed as having participated on Caravan #83 Mexico - Fall 1971. So if 20603 is in your 1974 Airstream, that trailer could not have been on the noted caravan. Richard (without Adah) Leighton is still listed in my 1980 Directory, but then in Mesa, AZ, same thru 1988. In the 1989 Directory, 20603 is listed for Herbert R. Leighton at the same Mesa, AZ address, same caravan. In 1991 Herbert R. Leighton is listed back in Pigeon, MI at the same address as 1975. He is not listed in my 1993 Directory. I do not have a complete set of directories, but it appears that Richard may have been a middle name and in later years he went back to his first name of Herbert. At least that's a guess.

Sent you a pm, but for general interest here it is:

Neither the ghost numbers or the blue numbers match what records indicate they should. The blue number which should be the Air Forums number an account that shows 0 post from CA. The ghost number are someone from OH. We know that the trailer was bought in OKC. It still has it's original dealership sticker on the outside. Brassfields RVs. So it should have an Ok WBCCI registration....

Maybe these numbers were to another club or something personal to the PO. Guess it's a mystery not to be solved....

Ok, so apparently I read the number wrong. It's 1387. There is a WBCCI Sticker that says dues paid '82. It also has the International caravan sticker.

In my defense, the sun was shining on the day I looked, when you go look on a cloudy day it says 1387 not 1587. Sorry. I D 10 T error.

The explanation cracked me up!

Well, no 1387 in the directory I am using perhaps further on back. Stay tuned, someone will help with older directories especially now that you have the date of membership. You might even be able to call WBCCI headquarters and inquire.

Both 1387 and 1587 were originally assigned in 1957! I'll go with your latest statement that it was 1387. Since your trailer is a 1971, there is no real need for me to look any earlier, but I'll note that in my 1960 and 1966 Directories 1387 was assigned to Joseph & Ona Cooper of Gridley, CA with no caravans listed. In my 1975 Directory 1387 is assigned to Tom & Viola Wilson of Oklahoma City, OK, with no caravans listed. Same in 1980-81-82. In my 1988 Directory 1387 is assigned to Bob & Mary Lou Swander of Enid, OK, with no caravans. I didn't check after that. I am not sure how far Enid if form Oklahoma City, but I would guess there was a good chance that the Wilson's trailer was sold to the Swanders and that is how they got the same number. Given that you are from Oklahoma City, I would suggest that you likely have the trailer that belonged to the Wilsons and Swanders.

It appears that your trailer was not on a numbered caravan, but it may have been on an unnumbered caravan for which there are no records. Of course the name of the club is the "Wally Byam Caravan Club, International". That means the club was formed around the concept of caravanning, but many members never participated on any caravan, so that sticker doesn't mean too much in the end. It is therefore possible that your trailer never participated on any caravan. Unless you find evidence elsewhere (an actual caravan sticker on the trailer or paperwork inside it) we may never know that answer. Given that the Wilsons were members for many years (possibly the Swanders, too) it is likely that they at least took the trailer to a number of Rallies.

In any case, enjoy your Airstream!

Hi Joe,
Thank you so much. We actually bought the trailer in Enid but not from the Sawnders. So, counting us, our trailer has at least 4 owners. All of which have lived less than 2 hours from the dealership it was bought from on route 66.

That's a bit sad, shouldn't every A/S get to go on a Caravan?

This forum is great. So many people who care and are knowledgable about so many different things. Thank you all so much!
I appreciate the help!
