How Best to Publicize My Hunt for a '69-'70 Tradewind?

What are the best ways to let the community know I am looking to buy a '69-'70 Trade Wind within 3 hours of Detroit?

You could start by posting a "wanted" ad in the Airforums classified ads section. Don't be surprised if nobody beats down your door. You will probably have better luck by actively searching.

You might also browse through the "Dollars and cents" section. I have recently seen a few posters who want to sell an Airstream but don't know where to start, so are asking about what their trailer is worth. You might be able to contact one of these posters directly if it all seems like a good fit.

Also look in the Airforums classified ads, of course, your local Craigslist postings, and Ebay.

good luck!

If you go the Craigslist route be prepared to be blasted by scammers. They are easy to spot as they show a lack of imagination. All the stories will be very similar. Of course this is not to say that all who use Craigslist are not legitimate. Your best bet is right here on Airforums. Put a "looking for" ad here and keep a close eye on the "for sale" section. Good Luck in finding your Airstream.

Why would you limit your search to 3 hours from Detroit? It is hard to find just the right Airstream. A two or more day drive just might be well worth it..

I got lucky and stumbled across my 66 Tradewind just 20 minutes away, but I drove to michigan to find my 95 34'.

Airstream only park! There are usually one or two owners aging out of their Airstream at all times. There's one in Minne-snow-da I believe.

Dan, I agree. I live on the Mississippi gulf coast. Picked up my new to me Airstream in north Wisconsin. 2800 mile round trip. Worth every mile of the drive to have the trailer I wanted.

No Tow Vehicle

Looking close to home because I don't have a tow vehicle and don't care to blow my budget on shipping.

Also, while I would prefer a '69-'70 Trade Wind, Overlander or Ambassador, I am flexible.

Regarding dual posts, sorry I didn't know the rule and was hoping to reach owners of those specific models who might only check "their" forum.

Good Idea

Love that idea to check the "Dollars & Cents" forum. Have already put up a Wanted Ad on the Forum Classifieds and had a response!

There is a '69 Overlander and a '74 Overlander listed in the Minneapolis Craigslist ads.

Also WBCCI Rally

I can't get to the Airstream Parks mentioned but I am planning to go to the WBCCI Region 4 Rally in Michigan in two weeks. It's not listed on the forum for some reason but I found it here
