My first one was in 1983 from the village of Marathon to Athens, retracing the footsteps of Phidippides. When I came across the finish line in Olympic Stadium, with the Acropolis towering on the hill above, I arrived at a keen understanding as to why he died at the end of his run. It was one tough course.

I was in Colorado a month ago hiking in the twin lakes area west of Buena Vista. The Aspens were golden and the sky was an iridescent blue.

Below is a pic of our recent gathering at the Roasterie. The proprietor, Danny O'Neill, took the photo. One more Airstream (TTBikes a/k/a Tim) showed up shortly thereafter. A good time was had by all.

Also below is a shot of today's labor - patching in a new panel where the water heater had been. I'm planning on installing a tankless water heater fore of the streetside wheel well.

My golly, there appears to be a DC-3 or C-47 on a launch pad in the background. Rotisserie is maybe the wrong name. Maybe it should be "Up, Up and Away in a DC-3" or something.

It's great you vintage Airstream guys got together with your trailers. That is the essence of the Vintage Airstream Club and their rallys. It's a lot of fun.

Here is the Rocky Mountain Vintage Airstream Club gathering in Ridgeway, CO, last August. Over 40 trailers. It was a great time.

Dale and Terry get a '66 Tradewind

A nice gathering of vintage Airstreams and Airstreamers at Roasteries indeeed. I wish that I could have joined them. Definitely an appropriate location with plenty of parking available.

Sharp eye, David. Here is some history of the Roasterie’s Iconic DC-3:

It was indeed a great morning. Your CO rally looked like a lot of fun as well.

It is a DC-3 and it is one that was in the Berlin airlift. Danny O'Neill, who owns the Roasterie, got a thing for coffee beans and DC-3s when he was a young foreign exchange student in Central America. His coffee is "air-roasted", thus the airplane in his logo. Danny lives in my neighborhood (Brookside). He started his business in basement of his house and grew it into the plant with the plane on top and a bunch of coffee shops around KC.

Thanks Slats: Interesting story. Wonderful to see the creativity in folks that create a business and make it grow. Not easy, especially when you are dependent on a DC-3.

Slats

That looks way too good to call it a patch. I would call it an “upgrade”. First class work Dale.

great Saturday at Roasterie

Tim sent me the information on your posts, nice to meet you and the others that Saturday. Look forward to exchanging ideas and getting together again. Was nice to see my old 68 there as well. Nice ideas coming out of the group and things being done to the trailers.

electric stuff

I now have shore power into the trailer and all the AC and DC power is up and running. My electricial still has to work out some details of with connecting up the inverter.

I am a little disappointed at the output of the ceiling lights I got from Vintage Trailer Supply and have been toying with a home-made lighting system incorporating LED strips. I am designing a ceiling fixture that will have indirect lighting coming from the sides as well as direct downward lighting, each on different switches, so that one or both can be turned on. More on this later.

Sure want to see the lighting you do. I did the ambient lighting on the ceiling using some small led puck lights on a strip in the Argosy. Idea came from friend that initially was going to do ducting on ceiling for AC on his 31 foot. Saw him a month ago and he didn't do the ducting. I had to show him the ambient lighting i adapted from his idea.

How about showing me? I'd love to see a photo of what you did.

Here, for the heck of it, are a couple of pics I took recently when I towed the Tradewind home from Pleasant Hill (the day we met at the Roasterie).

Gee that is a nice looking Trade Wind Slats. I really like the single spear and international flag emblem. I wonder if 66 was the first year for that. I actually purchased a couple of those flag emblems for my old 66, but decided not to use them.

I took my flag emblems to a guy in Lee's Summit, MO, who does custom car and motorcycle painting. He did a really nice job repainting them. He also did my Airstream letters on the top front and rear of the trailer and the Tradewind emblem by the entry door.
