The one here has not been polished and it has a dent. Even so the thing just looks too big and bulky to me and I personally don't find it that good looking - although it is probably better than a bare tire.

Brad - great idea. It makes sense and would very easy to build to complete the set up.

Thanks Barry! I suppose you'd want to use 2 or 3 of these to connect the new "shield" to the cover, so you can get the pieces apart quickly.

Here's another unlikely thought: these covers are now pretty rare, and there are probably many of us who'd love to have one... I wonder if the original vacuum mold for this piece still exists somewhere (maybe covered in dust at the back of a mop closet in Jackson Center.)

It'd sure be cool if Airstream popped a few dozen out to sell online. They certainly still have all the other equipment necessary.

Hmm... there's your latest new activity during Alumapalooza: sneaking away from the tour group to go mold hunting!

I will have to take that idea VERY seriously. At this stage of the game no telling what the end result will be. Roger

I believe that is Herb Spies' trailer. I've seen that beautiful cover in person and you just can't help but stare and drool.

Seems in the reflection you can see some really chubby people taking pictures . Now some one is going to try to tell me it is the way the reflection of the trailer makes them look when I know in mine, which is no where near this shiny, it makes you look skinny. Or that's what the ladies say.

Hmmm, so lets see, Dave is 6'1" and 190#'s

I'm 5'10" and 190#'s

In my books that means no matter what, Dave is right , cause if I don't agree with him, he can beat the living, uh, beejabbers out of me or sand my trailer with 200 grit.....

Its OK Barry. I'm 6'4" and 250, so I got ya covered. Besides, he's need to come all the way from FLA to do it. Now if he wants to blast something, surely I can find something around here.

A little update to this old thread.
Since I'm not a commercial dealer, I'm not advertising that I'm gathering deposits in order to reproduce these old spare tire covers.

I'm simply pointing out that I have a new link in my signature.

I love the kit Brad, I think it will be great.

But I'm wondering, can it be ordered without the rear bumper mount? I'm interested in mounting it on the tongue, between the propane tanks and the Airstream body.
