'69 bathroom vanity lights

does anyone know of a source for the bathroom vanity light lenses? Ours both are melted around where the bulb is and one is cracked. Didn't seem them on vintage trailer supply or Inland. Thanks!

Just on the phone with Jackson Center getting some parts numbers. Checked with them on your lens - all they have is 76 and newer - said it wouldn't fit yours.

I'd keep an eye out for one on Ebay.

do you have a picture of it? Our local RV shop actually has a lot of old stuff there, most of it covered with dust from being there so long, lol. I would be glad to check for you.

I'm truely amazed how helpful people are here and how much (somewhat overwhelming) information there is to read and digest. My wife and I are getting set to go pick the trailer up, and I'll take some pictures and measurements and get back to you. Thanks so much!

Check with Oasis RV in Tucson, I am amazed at the number of parts they have in stock for vintage trailers>

You are very welcome. We are hoping to soon be the owners of a 65 Tradewind. I think they are so cute! Cant wait to fix it up.

posting a picture

To post a picture on here, click the "Post Reply" button, not the quick repy. Go down towards the bottom of the page, click manage attachments, then browse and find your picture on your compueter, it will download your picture, it takes a few seconds. then close that window and click submit reply and it will show up in the box! Hope this makes sense

a few pictures

here's a few pictures of our new project. The previous owner removed the two gouchos, one of which (side one) will get rebuilt, the other will become a dinette instead. Think we're going to put down 5/16 engineered hardwood floors and refinish cabinets and walls.

1969 bath vanity lenses...

I share in your difficulty finding replacement lenses. I have a '69 AS Tradewind and have tried all over to find a single lense, with no luck. If you come across a source, please, please let me know. I spoke with a gentleman a year back who suggested that I have my existing lense cast and heat molded.

lenses

ok, so I found two on ebay about 2 weeks ago, that are in "ok' shape. If you have one good one (which I didn't) I think I found a solution. I was watching DIY network and they were doing classic car restoration and working on a packard. He was casting tail light lenses, and a system of making molds of lenses with a special RTV silicone, then casting with special plastic resin for lenses and the results were really good. I was about to try to model clay repair my old ones when I found it, but by my math the amount of RTV for the mold is kinda pricey, but will create either clear, frosted or any other color of virtually any shape plastic.
Silicone Rubber - Alumilite Corp. is the company website

and searching lense casting or packard on DIYnetwork's website should show some screen shots of how he did it. I called dozens of airstream dealers with no old stock available, and Andy at Inland indicated that they have been out of production for years. I figure if someone invested in making the mold, which is probably 75-100 bucks, they could make a dozen sets or so and sell them pretty easy, I just don't have the time.

I feel your pain....I was lucky enough to find two OEM surplus lenses for our '71 Sovereign from an Airstream dealer. In the meantime, I epoxied mine back together, after I put in a new switch for the light. Here's a pic of mine:

yeah, mine were too far gone, crumbled everywhere you touched them, big holes where someone used too big a bulb and baked it. The 69 apparently was only one year, and the lamp is molded into the bulkhead, and isn't a true rectangle, so an interesting issue if you cant find a lense.
