I suppose if I take off the disks and calipers it would lighten it up a bit... hmmm.....
How am I supposed to lift that again to install it? You solo workers are amazing!!
Hopefully in the next couple of weeks, the install will occur. Part of me wants to take the '63 and axle to Area 33 and let the crew go to work! To bad I can't tow tandem....

It's also helpful to have a small hydraulic post jack to help control the rotation of the axle. The arms want to rotate down, so I put the small jack under the end of one arm, to keep the axle level as it is raised into position.

It's all Frank's fault.....
Wow, 2011 sure has been an emotional rollercoaster... I am finally getting used to the fact that both my parents are gone... both died suddenly without warning.. mom in Jan, Dad in March. So... time to get back to my therapy.
I went up north to visit my two babies, and get the Argosy ready for our first trip of the season (COVERED in NW moss... and moldy inside.. blech!). But what caught my eye was a fairly large tree fallen behind the trailers... WHEW I thought, that was close! But then as I looked to the left, I realized, I wasn't so lucky after all... the first pic was what I saw between the rear of the trailers, then the damage to the '63. MOST of the rear cap was saved.. I think I can roll out most of the rear cap damage, but the roof, ribs, and curbside are pretty well toast. Good thing I had the rear window out to rebuild... I"m sure the frame is slightly tweaked.
I dunno... I'm not sure how much I want to tackle right now...
So bummed!!

How about one more pic...
Everybody loves carnage....
Darn trees.....
Part of me wants to make a shorter "Bambi" out of the salvaged front 2/3's... but then I have to move the wheel openings... OR, I salvage the roof, and do the side repairs...
Ideas?

Oh Marc, that is just awful. We know life isn't fair and you are certainly catching the unfair part right now.
You know it can be fixed, whenever you're ready to take it on. Big pile of tools up here that aren't getting used much anymore that you are welcome to anytime you'd like. Whatever labor I can provide is there too--just say the word.

Just kidding Frank! It seemed you started with some tree karma... and it rubbed off on me! I think I'm going to rebuild.. just gotta think this through some more.

Ah bummer, Marc, so sorry to see the damage. I have faith you'll be able to fix it though. Good luck!
