I just purchased a Tradewind built in Santa Fe Springs in 6/61. It is very original and has few modifications over the years. One modification it had, as far as I can tell, is that at one point it had what appears to be fenders riveted on to the side above the wheel wells. The shape of the now empty rivet holes indicate that the fender was shaped like ones from about the 40's era. Has anyone seen anything like this?
Welcome to the forums, not sure exactly what you're looking at, should post some photos. There were some rivets above the wheel wells where the skin met the inner fender area, but sounds like this is more than that. Anyway, congrats on the new toy and welcome!

WOW!! That interior is beautiful and is intact plus original to boot. I have to caution you though, be most careful with those curved tile. If they are 9" x 9", they are made with asbestos and extreme care should be used in removing them. If you are able to get them out without breaking them, all the better. It is only if they break that poses a health risk. Wear a good respirator mask. We want you to enjoy your TradeWind for years to come.

I highly recommend putting in a single piece of Marmoleum. It comes in a variety of styles / colors plus some of them look so vintage. Do a search on the internet for a distributor near you. I like the idea of using a single piece and not having any seams.
