Hey Mike....going to miss ya man! Let me know if you need any help before you leave. PS Glen's place is just up the road from me, here in SLC, also known as "Pine Grove". Best of luck with your new life on the east coast! Trex

Hey Rex,

Thanks so much for the offer. This move is by no means a done deal even though we are packing and have movers lined up for 1 week from today. The 45 day Escrow date as stated on the sales agreement ends on December 5th and we do not even have a date for signing yet. Actually been smooth as silk at the SC side of our transaction and has been horrible at this end due to our really bad real estate agent mostly. So until escrow actually closes this is not a definite move in our stressed minds. Road tested the Hoot yesterday and everything works great (Thanks again Glen!). Load equalizer/sway was received from UPS late last night and will be installing today. Dang we never even got to Stream together, maybe in the future sometime as I hope to use this thing someday!

Mike

Anderson equalizer/sway installed

Got it installed yesterday and all seems good. Hey but what do I know never having towed with a distribution hitch?

Mike, What the heck is that set up ?
How does it distribute the weight ?
It looks like a sway control, a strange sway control.

Glen, there is a whole thread here on the forum on these. Plus the Andersen site has some info: After 2-years of development and road-testing, Andersen Hitches releases their new Anti-Sway, Anti-Bounce Weight Distribution Hitch. Instead of just improving on current models, Andersen completely redesigned Weight Distribution...leaving the competition in the dust.
The Andersen Weight Distribution Hitch available with 4" or 8" drop/rise doesn't just raise the bar, it sets it --changing the industry forever! Combining modern materials, technology and innovation, it's the simplest, quietest, and most advanced weight distribution hitch on the road today. This is a first in the industry giving trailer owners the best anti-sway AND anti-bounce with the only true Motion-Dampening™ system around. People are shocked at how smooth and quiet the ride is compared to anything else out on the market today!
Weighing in under 60 lbs, this good-looking but tough work horse is rated up 14,000 lbs GTWR (1400 lbs tongue) to handle your heavy-duty trailer needs. It also doubles as a standard ball mount if you have the need to tow without any weight distribution.
Backed by a lifetime warranty, it's the only choice for total anti-sway, anti-bounce weight distribution!

Look at all of these advantages
Unparalleled Sway Control that self-adjusts according to load
So quiet you won't even know it's there!
Drastically reduces BOUNCE using our patented Motion-Dampening™ system!
2" or 2-5/16" ball included –no extras to buy
Fits all standard 2" receivers.
One-pin removal from tow vehicle
Grease-free system –ball and coupler move as one
Easy install –no spring bars needed!
Available for 3", 4", 4-3/8, 5", 6"and 8" trailer frames
4" or 8" drop/rise adjustable shank available
Doubles as standard ball mount for towing without weight distribution
The smoothest ride around - owners are saying they can't believe it!
No problem backing up –unlike many other weight distribution hitches
Weighs under 60lbs!
Lifetime Warranty (limited)
14,000 lbs GTWR 2-5/16" ball, 10,000 lbs GTWR 2" ball • 1,400 lbs tongue weight

Easy to install, easy to disconnect, quiet, light, lifetime warranty. I like it.

Glen I believe I got the aluminum 2024-T3 Alclad 0.032 thick for exterior skins at Aircraft supplies aluminum sheet 2024T3 4130 steel tubing Airparts inc - Aircraft construction supplies . How much do you need? I might have some that I can give you.

The sale of this house is about to kill us. Escrow is supposed to close by 12/7 and the latest word is that the buyers loan is with the underwriters, this tells us nothing. I had movers coming on monday the 3rd that I have moved out to the 5th. As of yet we do not have a signing date and are still packing away. I'm calling today to find the cost of bringing, loading and letting the van sit until we have signed papers so that escrow can close. That way if something happens at the 11th hour we unload move back in and cancel sale.

Sorry to hear that about the sale.

As for the sheet, I need to cover the original water heater opening and reduce the size of the rear window opening.

The hole I'll cut out for the new H2o heater location is smaller and should yield enough material to cover other holes and phobias.

Glen,

Sorry I missed you before we left. Yes, it is finally over...almost. We have our new (old circa 1945) house in a week. We are far from settled will try to post some pics in a week or so. I fear the Hoot will be on the back burner for a bit with house items taking precedence.

Finally Back!

Ok, I've been pretty much inactive on here for over a year. Moved from California to South Carolina. So with selling in Ca and moving across the country (maiden voyage for the 'Hoot'), moving into temporary apartment, shopping for a house, buying house, finding circa 1945 house had many surprises i.e. repairs needed, building a shop/garage/airport (airport is what I refer to shelter for the Airstream), remodeling kitchen, etc. etc. etc. Just got to point where I could even consider updating. Just able to get the Airstream out of storage and is GREAT to have her back with us. Probably be a few weeks before I can start working on her again but here is a pic of her in her new home.

Beautiful design and workmanship on the garage and "airport". Looks like you will be there for a while. Your garage and airport would be real hard to leave behind.

Winter was fine

It's the house that is requiring more time and resources than anticipated. Hope to get back to the 'Hoot" renovation soon. Am going to try and get out camping regardless of completion!
