Good to hear from you folks!
Even though I've never met Aerowood or 66 in person, "hearing" a familiar voice was real nice! Now I'm just waiting for Zep to chime in!

So back to the windows. I did get one out and took it home to clean it. Previous owners have used a multitude of products to hold the windows in. Maybe the correct glazing tape and glazing strips were not available, so they just "made due" with what they could find, but this would be so much easy to remove all the old crud if they hadn't.

Has anyone used "Lift Off" to remove old hard window caulk?

Glad you're still kickin' Doc. Get your Airstream ready for a rally next year!

Anyway, she sits on a ranch and it takes about 30 minutes to get there.

I'm going through the windows now. I have the Hehr Hall-Mark 12 (C12XX) windows used from 1961 to 1965. I actually need to check the markings next time I get out there.

This thread is helpful...

I have ordered parts through VTS and started replacing cranks and seals.

I will need to reglaze most of the glass, never done that!! Wish me luck.

I just stumbled across this thread and just had to read it all. You have done a great job of documenting your work. This will help lots of folks.

But 10 years between posts? I thought that I was bad when I went 3 years in my thread on our 66 Tradewind. Hey, life happens! Glad that you are back on it.

Thanks Dan and great to hear from you Zep!!

So I finished two windows (the fore and aft). It was difficult to clean all the boogered up crap the previous owner used. There was both silicone caulk and acrylic caulk used to seal up the old windows. The worst part was the po used silicone on both sides of the window...Grrrrrrr.

To clean it all up I used a lot of elbow grease but it was definitely made easier by using "Goof Off" from Harbor Freight. I didn't expect it to work at all, but it really did. There are youtube videos on how to use it.

Ace hardware has the right thickness of glass and can cut it. For my year that's 3/32 or close to 2.5 mm, which is what Ace has.
I did have to trim the windows a bit and Harbor Freight tools worked great. Used a HF "dremel-like" tool and the diamond cutting wheels. Again, there are you tube video on how to do this.

I sourced the glazing tape and seal from VTS. They worked perfect. Quality stuff.

To get the seal in place you have to press hard until it snaps in place. I used a clamp to make it much easier. Just started at one end and worked my way along the whole seal. Here's link to a quick video of it.

Just 7 more windows to go!!!
