I just purchased a 1962 Tradewind and I am can't get to it for another 3 weeks. I purchased it off Ebay 3 weeks ago and it is at my Mother's just waiting for me.
I work for Disney On Ice, so I will not be done with my tour for another 3 weeks and it is driving me crazy. To have this trailer and not to be in it yet is killing me. I get 3 months off during the summers, so I plan on renovating this trailer and then living in it during the summers. That way I can visit family all over the country and still have my "home".
My Mother and Father have told me that the condition of the trailer is excellent, and that it will mostly just need my personal sense of style. I plan to put in custom cherry floors among other things.
Here are a couple of pictures of my new (to me) baby.
Any advice on the new baby would be appreciated, and when I get home I will take more pictures.
Looks so good! Welcome to the forum, and congratulations on your newTradewind. You'll find many other TW owners here who have shared adventures and decorating in their forum posts. Enjoy your summers with your Airstream! ~G

Welcome! We have a 62 ambassador and our interiors are very similar from what I can tell from your pictures. We may have seen you if you were involved in the show at the chevrolet centre in Youngstown ohio. Welcome to the forums I know you have to be dying to get home to your new baby! Keep us up to date on your airstream adventures! It's nice to see another owner of a 62 not many around that I have seen. Take good care!

P.S. I have to ask do you skate or are you a crew member, administrator, concession person.....Just curious...Ok..nosy...lol
Congratulations on your TradeWind. She looks to be a beauty!! They are alot of fun and I especially like the late 50's/eaarly 60's units. So much character.
As for the water heater, check to see if there is a gas line that ran to it and a 110 volt recepticle nearby. The original was either 110 volt only or a gas/110 volt combination. You'll want to fill the void with a new one anyway. If you plan on boondocking, you'll want a two way unit so you won't need to rely on shore power to use it.
Keep us posted on your progress and post more pix when you can.
You earn karma power by:
- 1 point for each year of membership
- 1 point for each 250 posts
- 1 point for every 50 karma points you earn
The amount of karma you earn is based on the karma power the person giving you karma has. So if I have a karma power of 8 and give you good karma then your karma increases by 8 points.
Here are other rules
- you can only give 10 people karma per day
- you have to give 10 different people karma before you can give the same member karma again
- all members have 10 karma points by default
- If a member has less then 5 karma points their "karma hits" do not count towards any other members until they get their karma back above 5.
- a member must post at least once before their "karma hits" count toward other. So if a member has never posted, they can still leave karma but it wont have any effect on the user.
Rivets Earned
Here is the breakdown on earning the rivets that appear below our user names. This is just a fun way to see who has the most posting action.
I just got in from tour last night and got to see my Tradewind in person. What a beautiful trailer! I am amazed at all the little touches that go into these homes away from home.
The only problem I have is that I just got a promotion and now that I have seen my trailer, I now must leave it tomorrow for a week. I have meetings out of town (which is awful since all I want to do is work on my trailer!)
Next weekend when I get back from meetings I will charge up the camera and take some current shots. I'll post them up here as soon as I have them.
Double congrats, on your promotion and especially your Tradewind. You are very fortunate to find an Airstream of that vintage in such great shape. These old Tradewinds are awesome, perfect size, and great cool factor. Can't wait to see your new photos.
It's funny how the acquisition of an Airstream can make a job promotion seem like a bummer because it takes time away from your new baby.
