1961 24 ft. Tradewind instead of a Safari.

I was told by the PO that this was a 1961 22ft. Safari. After 66 Overlander pointed out that it is actually a Tradewind. So I am ready to bring her home and announce that I am in your group. I am glad to be here....Click image for larger version

Always comforting to meet someone with the same peculiar form of mental illness that impels one to seek out and save these old aluminum critters. Welcome to the rattle box. It's a pleasant place for putterers.

Today is the 24th of September 2017. I made it home with my 1961 Tradewind 24. It was my first time pulling an Airstream. I drove thru L. A. and my trailer felt very light . Made it to Ventura by sundown. Today was the start of my new life.....

Welcome to the club! What are your intentions now that you have her home? Are you going to restore her or make her camp ready and start enjoying? These old trailers are definitely addictive and very much worth saving.

Thank you so much, 1973Argosy. The interior is all original and PO did some repairs without compromising the original layout. I plan on refinishing the woodwork and making sure the gaskets on windows are updated. I have some dents on the exterior and the front Astrodome and Air Conditioner needs replacing. It has been a "Wishful Dream" to camp along the Ocean. We have an area called the Rincon, just North of Ventura, which allows you to do that. So, it will be restore, camp, restore, Camp......

That's the way we did our restore. 17 years with our aluminum baby now and we are beginning to fix things that we fixed years ago. It gets into your blood. Love isn't a word I throw around all that easy, but I love our trailer dearly. The gulf coast of Alabama, Florida, and Mississippi have been some of our most memorable destinations over the years.
