Congratulations on your new project! I have a '58 Traveler that I bought also gutted- out and I am still in the process of resurecting it back to life. You will find the nicest people here on the forums and all the help and information also. Good luck.

did you do a total shell-off restoration? if so, i'd be interested in the steps you went through to put the shell back on. how much do you recon the shell weighs on it's own? with any luck, i'll be lifting the shell on saturday, and need to make the supports to hold it up while i redo the frame.

what layout did you go with on your unit? i'm interested in different options for the 18 footers. i've seen plenty for the 19-20 footers, and that extra 1-2 feet makes a huge difference, but shorter sure is cooler looking!

I didn't have to do a frame-off. My trailer had a really good frame and floor and no leaks. I guess the dry weather out here in west Texas has to be thanked for that. As far as the lay out, I went with my own to fit my needs and likes. Rear bed and front dinnette. On the road side I have the toilet and kitchen galley. On the curb side, I went with the shower and refrigerator. If you want pictures, pm me with your e-mail address and I will send you some, as I still don't know how to post them here. I also kept my original axle and leaf springs which is a nice unit with no sag. I'm adding shocks in the near future.
