Attn: Pacer owners! I was wondering if someone out there w/ a Pacer could do me a huge favor? The frame on my unit had the tongue replaced by a PO w/ a tongue from some other trailer. I will have a new tongue fabricated to match the original configuration. I was wondering if someone with a Pacer out there would be kind enough to take some measurements for me ? I'm trying to determine the length of the tongue...from the outside skin to the ball coupling. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Eric

tonque length

The 58 Pacer I restored last year also needed tonque work. It had been extended to accomodate extra stuff on the tonque and maybe to pull better behind a motor home. I without thinking told the welder to cut the old one off and make the new one extend 36.5 inches from the outside of the trailer rub rail. This is what my 63 Globetrotter measures. I have 3 Airstreams in my backyard now and 2 measure 36.5 and the other measures 35.5". Problem was that was the wrong length for the angles created by the frame rails. I had the welder reuse the original coupler. All couplers are V shaped and the angle of the V has to match the angle produced by the frame rails. Don't know if couplers have different angles available. The welder did what I asked for by modifying (cutting & rewelding) the coupler to accomodate a narrower angle.
Of course I paid extra for the additional work. So check to see where the "designed point" is for the frame rails before just asking for a set distance.

Shell Off

I took the shell off this weekend...i could have used a few extra hands I tried to use saw horses as supports....which was abit of a disaster Nothing major ..the uneven ground simply made them ineffective. I used cinder block and off I went. I updated my pics. Anyone know where to get some marine grade plywood? I'm having some trouble finding a source locally. I'm in or around Tampa. Thanks Eric
