At last I picked up my new '61 'stream. All went reasonably smoothly, some sort of electrical short tricked my Tundra into thinking it was about to suffer a catestrophic engine failure, but 1 90 cent fuse later we were good to go. Does'nt appear to need the add-on mirrors either. So 2600 miles down and about the same to go before I'm home. Pics as att.
For all of us down here in the tropics, how about posting a map of this 5000 mile odyssey? Looks from the green grass that you picked it up waaay south of sub-tropical Colorado (relatively speaking, of course). Goggle Earth says it's 2,534 miles from Onoway to Miami, as the crow flies. That's about as far away from Onoway as you can get, so where did you go to do the pickup?

Zep
Zep, I believe he picked it up in Tropical and Sunny California. He started a thread about it here:
So far Ive driven
Onoway, AB to Salem, OR
Salem, OR to Modesto, CA
Modesto, CA to Sequoia National park, CA (giant trees cool)
Sequoia NP to Buellton, CA
Buellton, CA to Corona, CA
then with trailer
Corona, CA to Kingman, AZ
Kingman to Williams, AZ (Grand Canyon).
next stops
Grand Junction (state unsure)
considering a quick stop to say hi at Enchanted trails too
Boulder, CO
Yellowstone NP
then not sure yet
Im on a slow connection with a backward laptop so no map, sorry.
Im also cursing my sat nav as it took me 3 hours out of my way today and these hills are not so good for my gas usage. Still better than I expected, I think Ill average 15 mpg with the trailer at 55 mph, compared to 17.5mph without but at higher speeds.
I saw nice a Airstream with red truck on I-40 today and had some nice complimments from Harley riders on route 66, awesome.
Forgot to answer the question; I skipped the panel replacement. Mainly becuase it seems logical to do the work after the chassis mods, secondly because It was a pot of cash and lastly becuase I thought theres a chance Ill bash into something on my way home anyway.
It dumped 14 inches of snow the day I left home so the green grass and now cacti are very welcome sights.
