Not a dumb question at all.....

Buck rivets is whats used on the outside of your airstream. It takes two people to set them, one with the air riveter and one with the bucking bar.

Do a search on buck rivets - you'll find all kinds of stuff.

You bucking is to rivets as screwing is to screws.

One layer of 123 primer and then nano reflective paint on the ceiling and end cabs. A little after work work. Tomorrow I hope to insulate and repaint the end caps. The belly pan is on the ups truck on it's way.

You're just stormin' through it. One multipart question re. the painting: what was the paint on the inside that you went over with the primer and why the reflective paint?

Ladies and gentlemen, we have sheel - frame contact. Pictures to follow on the evening report.

The primer is on the inside of the outside shell. Relfective paint is on the bottom side of the new floor and in the interior ceiling and walls above the awning line.

The Fantastic Vents are here

. Also found a set of ribs 14.5 inches apart right over the Axels. Looks like it would be the place they would have put one of the monster AC's in the late 50's. Wonder how much they weighted.
Will put the fans in next to help with the heat.

Interior of Shell 103 degrees, interior of reflective foil covering shell on the inside, 95. Eight degrees times 23 feet times 8 feet is allot of btu's the AC won't have to deal with. Should be even better with the double walls and layer of volera.

I'll run the wires and hose for a roof AC but I'm still not wanting to do it.

Yay! Put in army cots, a coleman burner and hit the road!

All my relatives from New England wrote me this weekend that it was "wicked hot!" Sounds like the insullating spray is working, despite nay sayers. Down here, those tempsa are just typical summertime--and everyone just stays in the AC (they say that's why Southerners are more affected by heat than Northerners)! Still, I worked the weekend out in the trailer--so long the fan was going (a old 1950s commercial fan), it was ok. Maybe it was because I was raised in New England...

We have one of those monster original A/Cs on the roof of our trailer, which we will be replacing soon (yes, here I think it's a necessity, since we do want to be able to go South on summer vacations). If I can, I'll weigh it when we do get it down!

Running the hose and wires is a nice thing for anyone who gets the trailer next, at least.

Way to go, though!

Ordered the 60amp converter with wizard so I can run the Fantastic Vents which will be the next thing in. Then the street lower rear panel gets replaced and we are off to the races.
59 Days and Counting to Region One Scout Out.

That means buying and installing everything.....

As a fellow '59 owner, I must say you are making remarkable progress. Wish I had a tube for the AC installed in mine. Too late now.

Did you know you are really riveting? Suppose that's why you have one in your mouth in the above picture.

Indeed battery box is up for grabs, you pay postage. It's old but no damage and has the lid.

Today I put the first Fantastic Vent in. An easy job except for getting up on the roof. It works great. Also put some 2" pink foam insulation in the frame.
