Just curious, I don't know why, but is this a deal breaker? Or is this more of a negotiating point. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
That's a good question. Right now I would't say it's a deal breaker. In fact if the seller didn't have other engagements right now, it's possible I'd already be on the road for the 1400-mile round-trip as of this morning.
I'm going to wait to see what he comes back with on Monday. I've also asked him to check into the cost at his local garage of replacing the tires and re-packing the bearings so that I can save that time on the round-trip.

"So, why do we drive on a parkway and park on a driveway?"
Hi Rick, I'm not getting anywhere with the link provided. Maybe it has been taken down off Craigslist? Thanks for the heads-up regardless!

It was showing up on dallas.craigslist. It's a '62 Overlander. Don't know what happened.

Hmmm, I see the '62 on Dallas Craigslist, but not by that link. But still, thanks very much for the heads-up. I have contacted the seller-- Fort Worth is a nice easy drive from Austin, that's for sure.
.......and, the '61 Overlander from Indiana is back on ebay. This one could be the "twin" to mine.

This one has sold, we are in the process of remodeling. I think the Ambassador is a perfect size and style. I kow the seller had a couple of other older model airstreams for sale.

So right now, I'll wait and see.
Any word from your seller?

Yes, I really like that one. It was the first nice-looking early 60s Overlander that I saw for sale, and was sort-of the inspiration for this thread. It's now been on ebay 5 times that we know of, never having met reserve, with $7400 being the highest unsuccessful bid that I am aware of. Now that the sellers have performed a first cut of polish, I'm guessing their reserve has gone up again, but who knows? It's currently sitting around $5100 and the reserve hasn't been met.

Hey 63Silver, not sure which one you're talking about?
No word on the title yet. His contact at the county courthouse was out on vacation last week and expected back in town yesterday, so perhaps I'll know more today.
Found out the existing wheels ARE split rims, and his local garage is willing to put new tires on them, but I have no desire to mess with splits in the future, so I'd have to put new wheels on it as well. Can't decide if I want to go basic or something newer, like the ones that Uwe put on his '63 Overlander which are VERY cool IMO.

Sold for $8100. Not to me.
I know there are some people in the world who can drop 8 grrr on a trailer that's 1,000 miles away without ever having seen it, but I don't happen to be one of them. My wife is wonderful and supportive, but I don't think she'd approve of me spending my newborn's entire college fund on something I've never seen. Too bad though, I really liked that one.
Still waiting to hear back on the title for the '58 in Colorado.
I've traded messages on the '62 in Fort Worth-- it has been painted a cream color for some reason. Other than that, it actually looks pretty good, it's close in proximity, and the price is right. But I'm not sure how I'd strip off all that cream-colored paint in my driveway...?

Um, I am going out on a limb here, but, um... a little at a time.
