Electric Steps

"The Bat Cave Express" has no steps. The mounting rails are bent. Do I look for a 1959 replacement step or install an electric step. Maybe the junk yard that steps. Anyone know what years are the same as the 59 for steps?

Those steps if I remember are pretty much the same up until the late 60's. I may an extra step if I decide not to use mine. The PO tore the step off with a rock and I'm thinking about using a wooden step that I plan to build. When I replace the belly pan/wrap alum, I'll just wrap over the old step opening.

That's the third choice and would look the best and be the easiest. I am starting to install the floor this weekend so that may limit the options. I think you have the right idea. I could run a wire for future and use it for a light.
A little interaction and another problem solved.
Thanks Ken

PS Was that you or Uwe that was bucking rivets with your wife. We are going to have to cross the bridge as well after the floors in.

Paul

Installing the floor should not make the decision for you - you can still put in the step as long as the rails are there - can be bent back to shape - otherwise probably will not work if you have to put new rails in after the floor. Camping world has a retractable step that looks like it would be bolted on - to my thinking a seperate step is probably best because of the amount of weight it puts on the old frame.

It was Uwe who was bucking rivets with his wife, it is me who is going to be bucking rivets with his wife. Just ordered all the stuff - air hammer, bucking bar, rivets etc etc. Looking forward to learning a new skill (that is I hope I learn it!)

Good luck with your floor this weekend - I'll be thinking of you and sending good vibes. Just make sure you have a dictionary handy so you can put all the new words you learn in it All in all its not a bad project - just have to man handle the front and rear panels a bit.

Regards

Ken
