Shocking, huh? ;0)

Remember Steve Martin in "The Jerk" dancing around when the phone book arrived? I'm somebody!

Well, I'm doing the same dance but its an EBay win...

"I won, I won!"

Nice score! I was one of the watchers . I actually have one, its the rest of the antenna I need!

I wish I could prove it with pictures of the auction ( darn why didn't I think of that!) but my recent score on eBay was the globe to the porch light see below, $15 I think I one upped you!

I figured that there was a bunch of us '63 owners watching those auctions...

$15 is a good score, the last one I saw was asking a bunch more than that. I have one exactly like that, it was in the trailer when I bought it.

I just got home from the freight terminal with Dolly's new axles. I seem to always inadvertently select the optional "only send 3 grease caps so I can call back and get the 4th" every time I order new axles. ;0)

No big deal.

My biggest concern is the weather. Its so nice right now I may go camping instead of installing axles!

Why do simple tasks always seem to cause the biggest headaches? All I needed to do was seal a drip in the water tank fill line. It turned out to be a cracked fitting. Out comes the tank...

Before I start crawling the old inter-web, any suggestions on installing a new fill fitting? The old one appears to be glued in place, not spin welded.

Vernon, I have repaired polypropylene tanks with a big soldering iron (like 200 Watts - big gutter soldering iron). I was able to just fuse the plastic together using heat. They also make plastic repair kits like this one at Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Rigid-Plastic-...tic+repair+kit.

You can also get new fittings tanks, I'd try Tractor Supply.

Sent from my SM-N900V using Airstream Forums mobile app

I don't know why I didn't think of Tractor Supply. I'll loop over there tomorrow, I see they carry bulkhead fittings and I have a removable port in the top of the tank so I have access to install one.

I spent a few hours making parts for my antenna rotator. The inner part is a different model than the outer so I'm adapting.

Tractor Supply to the rescue! Thanks for the suggestion Steve. Since I have a 6" clean out port in the top of my tank I was able to insert a bulkhead fitting thru the wall and attach a new 1.25 barbed fitting.

You are very welcome, sir! There's no charge for suggestions.

I like what you are doing on fabricating antenna parts too. Last winter or spring, I rebuilt my Braund antenna and had to fabricate several parts (nearly all replacement parts are unavailable now). That's the sort of thing that I really like to do. Here's a custom spring/thrust washer installer that I made for that job.

Updates: The water tank rebuild has worked great, no leaks!

The antenna rotator is on hold as I await a replacment 10-24 tap. I broke my last one building new little wheels that contact the pole and rotate it. One thing I don't like about Amazon - when ordering a bunch of stuff I can never figure out the shipping cost of individual items. After confirming my order, I discovered I paid $11 in shipping for the $2 tap.

Hopefully this weekend will be dry for both days. I hope to get the new axles installed. My '63 has the same issue that Frank brought up here:

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f437...up-104400.html

So welding will be required!

Tomorrow is work day. Dolly is up on the ramps and I'm hoping for a smooth axle swap. A note of interest, the 50 year old axles have loosened up a bit with use, the ramps are 4" tall and I barely got the front tires off the ground.

Lets see, remove 2 flare nuts, drill 7 rivets, pop hubcaps, remove tires, remove brake wires, remove 4 bolts and out comes axle #1.

Weld on 4 mount extensions and coat with paint.

Install axle #1...what could possibly go wrong?... ;0)

I'm going to be watching this closely as I'll be doing a triple axle swap this summer. I hope that all goes smoothly!

I thought you'd already replaced your axles.
Good luck with them, ought to be a piece of cake for you!

One down, one to go. :20 to get the front axle out. Then I welded on the plate extensions, that was no fun. 3 1/3 hours and the first one is installed

The last axle, propane lines and brake wiring took 2 1/2 hours. I left off the hubcaps to retorque the lugs after a few miles. Since Dolly was hooked to the truck, a test ride was in order AND it was a pretty day... Mac and I grabbed a few things from the fridge and went camping at a local State Park!

Dolly tows different, I no longer can feel her hit small bumps and the bathroom garbage lid didn't end up on the floor.

The To-do list is getting shorter, Dolly will be ready for a big trip out west in a few weeks!!!

Where you going out West, HiHo? Might we see you at VTA? That would be so cool!

We are heading to the Tetons, perhaps the Big Horn Mountains. Yet another Big Adventure...

VTA sounds cool...
