Since it never got out of the 30's today, it's time to start on the interior rebuilds...I started by re-staging the bath components in the garage...
1st photo is exactly as it was dissassembled...the 2nd is the required upgrades...

We made it home about 2:00pm today from the last 2010 camping trip, giving me enough time to start a bath cabinet mockup. One of the few things I find tougher than plumbing is wood working...this time I just going to PLAN on building the stuff twice! I'm starting out with large chunks of rough cut pine, ripping it to size and planing it smooth.

I am going to try for some rounded corners and slightly upgraded cabinet doors, along with some minor dimensional changes so I'm going to mock up stuff with the pine before I tear into the 'good wood'

Its wet and chilly so I'm going to play with some interior options...I want round corners on the woodwork...I know I can buy curved plywood but I usually try different methods so here goes one...

My bath mockup needs a round corner to transition over the tub...so I cut and glued a 6"dia x 3/4 thick hex...then I used my lathe (it REALLY hurt to turn wood on my metal lathe!) to round it out...

now I need a plan to slice it into 4 - 90 degree sections...

Safe and easy way is with a jigsaw. Table and band saws are not as safe or easy to use with curved parts.

Maybe build a large box jig that wrapped entirely around it, with a slot on the top wide enough to drop your circular saw blade through? Not sure if you can get the required depth on that though...

Anyway, your turned "column" is looking great. It'll make for some very sturdy corners.

I would use the bandsaw and a jig.

Welllllllll....my $49 jigsaw just won't "cut" it...

But my table saw and jig might do the job...

It's too dark tonight...I'm gonna sleep on it and then tomorrow...let it rip!

Hummm...I thought this was about '63 Overlander but I've hijacked my own thread...

The cutting jig worked nicely...I guess I need to point out that I don't recommend using a table saw with out the shield

Anyway...here is what I'm thinking for the bath counter. I have to work out some details for the interior shelves since there is a hatch area that protrudes into the cabinet.

On Edit...I need to point out that this is a mockup...the worm holes won't be carried over into the final version...

Being out of town all week puts a damper on progress...I managed to get most of the Bath Mockup done today...
Doors and Drawers will come later...along with a new top to fit the curve corner over the tub

The blue tape is where a round hole goes...underneath will be a trash receptical... a nice round cover over the top.

Progress made today...Kitchen Counter is the attack zone...I started by creating another 8'togon tube and lathing it round...Recreating the cabinet face and attaching the 90 degree segments and a side..

I'm liking the round corners a lot..

I guess it might be a good idea to try a test fitting...

Seconded, on both. I wish I had a 2bayer, or a 3bayer... Actually I can't wait to get a few pieces installed so I can work on others.

I'm am amazed at your craftsmanship. all I can say is wow! Your mock-ups look better than my final products.

Testing Testing 123

Thank for the positive feedback...I also need a shop...you can see Mrs HiHo's car in the driveway...and a few posts back a view of my table saw shows my rippin' setup...in the driveway...

I got a test fitting last night...everything looks like I figured except one hickup...by straightening the cabinet so it's parallel to the wall I 'lost cabinet length'...so the drain on the left side of the double sink is centered over the top drawer and my plans for roller slides is an issue...unless I switch to a single sink...

Lobster bowl sink?

More test fitting...

I'm really dragging my feet because I don't want to start on the Doors-N-Drawers...

Hey! I can mock up the bed frames and the dinette!

For some reason, the photo adds rust that's really not there
