A few hours of planning (staring at stuff) and the creation of the associated Technical Specifications (I drew on the old counter top) and I think I'm ready for construction of the fridge cabinet...

Did any of y'all catch the name of the photo?

You know, I find myself staring at stuff for a long time too before I actually make it. I thought I was a little crazy, but I'm glad I'm not the only one! I've been staring at the upper cabinets for quite a while!!!

The cabinets 'clicked' for me when I made a mini scaffold to hold a mockup of the cabinet bottom at the proper height. I could then re-create the roof curve as well as assure the front face was straight up/down. The scaffold was VERY handy when it was time to install the finished cabinet. It held it up while I fitted and screwed things together.

I think that's a great idea, Vernon! I'll have to make myself one of those before I begin to tackle the uppers! I've got plenty of scraps, that's for sure!

The next photo name came from my years on the drafting board doing tooling design...

I sent several sets of blue prints to the toolroom asking for them to be built to MILITARY standards...

MIL-TD-P41 was the call out...

This year, Dolly was much more comfortable at camp...
No Propane = use a coleman stove and a cube heater...
No fresh water = use jugs
No sleeping in a tent = priceless

This week I installed the cabinet that wraps the fridge and completed the bedroom dresser face. Spent the rest of today cutting, planing and gluing what will be the 4 drawers in the bedroom. 48 individual pieces of wood in those 4 silly little drawers because I want all of the face grain to be vertical. It sure would have been easier to run it cross ways...

Kind of a mellow last few days.

I've been working on Dolly for over 2 years, tools and crap scattered and always being used. It's become so normal that I know where everything is, even though its basically stuffed around and under a 4x8 temporary work bench that occupies the center of our 2 car garage. This week I have began to finish up stuff and putting up some of the tools. It sorta feels like the last few days of a long adventure, even though you know it's not over, you can see the end.

That's got to be an exciting feeling!!! The end is in sight...even though there's more to do. It's far better than not being able to see any end to the journey.

Again, it's lookin' good in your neighborhood, sir!

That was a good suggestion...

The face plates are attached and the glue is drying.

Time to break out the 50 year old latches and see I they can be re-built. OF COURSE I have 3 of each type and I need 4 of one!

It's lookin' like I will need to lathe and knurl an aluminum one for a 4th

A coat of Poly on the drawers and here comes the rain...and shuts down that effort.

I decided to knock out the bath floor...it was going fine until the last board and I pulled a DUH...cut the wrong side of the pattern.

:10 later and it's done.

I still have to make a panel to go under the sink cabinet.

I can't help but wonder what we're going to do when we are through. How you like the "we" in that statement? I haven't had much work invested in this project but I sure am sure looking forward to putting her (Dolly) to good use. I must say you've done a most excellent job Mister. May we have many good journeys together in the ole girl.
