My first Airstream was a 1960 Overlander with an optional tandem axle and International package. I purchased it in October of 2000 and picked it up the following June. On the 3000 mile trip home we stopped near Mount Rushmore, South Dakota (see Washinton's head in the photo) and our pride and joy was pummelled by large hail stones. The damage was cosmetic but I lost my enthusiasm for that particular unit. A friend has bought it and it will still see lots of use. It was used in the filming of an upcoming movie. I don't know the name of the film yet but the trailer serves as a crop duster's office.
I had a baseball sized hailstorm hit our 61 Tradewind, house, and 2 cars (A Volvo 765 and Chevy Suburban) Pelted by baseball sized hail in Ohio last year. But, Our 66 Tradewind came away with the outer lid of the front skylight broken, but just a patina in its skin. the truck had $2000 in damage. the volvo wasn't covered, but after 165,000 miles, we sold it a few weeks later. The house got $14,000 worth of siding. The Airstream was fixed for $125
