After working to locate and fix a few leaks for the last couple months, I finally have it all stopped except for a 1 inch wet spot in my rear compartment.

I had one leak at my lower awning screws near rear and a couple rivets above it on the seam which makes me think the awning mount may have flexed and made the screws/rivets loose.

I got that sealed and then found out my rear bumper was leaking and just got it caulked all the way accross and it rained hard last night and it seems it fixed it about 99 % but there is still a one inch wet spot appeared near left side of rear door opening.

Now I have to wait for it to dry to add some caulk in this area in hopes of fixing it. I now have a daily routine of locating a large fan pointing in to my rear compartment on every sunny day to make sure and get all the moisture out of my storage compartment.

So far so good.........no damaged wood and wood seems hard as a rock all over even where it got wet............I found it soon and got it stopped and I guess it is a good grade plywood and not the particle board stuff or it would be bad.

I did remove all carpet in rear compartment so as to keep it very dry.

Am I done ? Can I let my guard down a bit now ? :bb:

The trip to the St. Louis area was well worth the effort. As the photos show, soldiermedic found quite a few small leaks in our Safari. Today I got out and worked on all of the issues. I used caulk on some and Cpt. Tolleys on others. It is supposed to rain this week and I am confident that we have resolved all of the leaks.

I spoke to the dealer where I bought the unit about the air bubbles around the air conditioner. He says that the way that the air conditioner is designed, that under pressure, you will always have air passing through. If anyone has different information, pass it my way and we can get the discussion going.

Thanks to soldiermedic for the good work. Fast, professional and very reasonable.

Currently working on a 64 Tradewind and have just finished installing a new body panel on the rear of the veh -- I have all the interior panels removed and have been leak checking everything and have found many leaks at the windows -- The windows will all get new seals but some of the leaks are comming from were the window frame meets the body -- my question is should I try to push in sealant around the window frames to reseal them or should I drill out the rivets and remove windows and reseal them and reinstall - and if I remove them - do you use butyl tape and vulcum or do you just use vulcum to seal them to the body ???
I have tons of questions about all kinds of things but one thing at a time
Thank you in advance for any help -- I would like to repair all the leaks before starting to replace the floor (thats the next step)
Thanks again

How Can U Detect Leak Before Damage Done?

I want to pose a question to get ideas about how one goes about detecting leaks in your trailer, so repairs can be made, before the leak causes extensive floor damage like I have.

I want to pose a question to get ideas about how one goes about detecting leaks in your trailer, so repairs can be made, before the leak causes extensive floor damage like I have. Because carpet was covered with plastic under my cabinets, I had leaks going for an unknown number of years before I found them.

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f456...ybe-56674.html
http://www.airforums.com/forums/f42/...-oh-58049.html

Now I'm getting the repairs fixed and my entire floor will be covered with the Airstream stock vinyl/linoleum. So you have to wonder that if a leak occurs at the rubrail that allows water to seep in, how can you see/feel the moisture under the top floor covering? I guess someone can have the same problem with hardwood floor covering. The subfloor could be getting soaked and you will never know it, unless you have a plan to check.

I've asked some folks at Jackson Center and haven't found an answer yet. I thought maybe you could put some kind of fabric or strip "wick" under the edge of the floor covering with a piece sticking up. If this strip feels wet then there's a leak.

Anyone else have an idea how to do regular floor inspections for possible leaks and water intrusions? Obviously checking seams, seals and caulk is one ounce of prevention, but that alone is not the full answer.

Another newbie here. I have a 1967 Overlander and can't seem to find the replacement glazing channel for the front stationery window. I'm referring to the small fixed window beneath the curved Corning window beside the entrance door. The channel appears to be a gray rubber material that has shrunk over time and now leaks. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
