What has anyone used to augment the furnace heat during the evening hours in the living space? Just a small floor heater that I would not leave on during sleeping hours or while I was away. Would like to pick up something inexpensive locally. Suggestions?

Thanks, Anne

This is a photo of a small, about 1 1/2" piece of grey ducting that extends from below the floor (near the axle below, and water heater) into the space under the side gaucho in my '77 21' Globetrotter. Discovered after removing the gaucho as part of a renovation project. I cannot see any means of connection to the furnace, located on the opposite side of the trailer (furnace has been removed for replacement). Help identifying its purpose and origin/destination would be appreciated, as the service manual doesn't seem to provide any info.

Maybe it's just a crawlspace for rodents!

The hydroflame furnace in my 1967 Caravel is wonderful...for awhile. But after about 15 minutes, it starts to make a louder roaring sound, the heating output drops, sometimes it goes out, then relights, cycles back and forth for awhile and after about an hour it settles into a pattern of roaring and the flame seems to move to the air inlet section of the burner (which is non adjustable) I assume that all this is an indication that I have too much or too little air entering the burner, and I assume it is too little and probably due to some blockage or clogging of the gravity air intake vents...am I on the right track here? If so, is there a way to clean the combustion air vent short of trying to separate the parts and remove the entire thing from the trailer?

I have taken the heater apart three times (not the vents though, which appear to be corroded together and not likely to dissassemble), cleaned and reassembled it and still the same issues....it works like a charm for awhile, then it goes crazy...any help or advice would be welcome.

Last year when I was buying a portable electric heater I noticed a few boxes of these items.

Read the description and saw the price - and passed. But, just recently I started wondering about it ... mabye it would be a good alternative to the portable electric heater I use occasionally duirng out FL winters! :brows:

The above pictured Econo-Heat is a 400 w (new rating since it was variable btw 400 and 450 suposedly) convection type heater that is wall mounted. It can also be painted to match decor. It's 24" x 24" x 1.5" and weighs 16 lbs. There's fairly mixed reviews - but they're home use (not RV).

They now have a new has a new product on their website called the Envi. It's a 450 w convection heater that is also wall mounted. It is 22" x 19" x 2" and weighs 10 lbs. New product - no reviews/comparisons that I can find other on their website.

Envi Comparison

I'm thinking about mounting one of these wall panels on the side of my kitchen lower cabinets. In place of where the original magazine rack is secured (beneath the flip-up counter extension) and to the left of the entrance door. I also thought I might be able to place one on the backside of the oven compartment that extends into the bedroom area - above the gaucho. However, that seems like it would be positioned too far off the ground. And might be too heavy.

What do ya'll think? I just hate the *aesthetics* of the little portable electric heater - plus my dogs (okay, and me too) knock it around.

While my source is generally reliable, I haven't found anything in a web search, and it's something I would think would be out there. Has anybody else heard this, and do you have further details? Speculation only feeds the rumor mill, but if you've seen anything like a notice from Carrier, it would be good to know. Many of us use Carrier as an aftermarket a/c for our coaches.
