I am replacing the interior and exterior lower front panels on my 65 overlander. When I removed the interior panel, I exsposed a steel plate that was riveted to the front exterior panel, just behing the tire rack. Does anyone know why this is there and do I need to rivet it back onto my new panel? It is about 10 inches tall and 20 inches long. It is placed about 6 inches off the floor. Nothing is attached to it, on the inside or the outside. Any advise would be appreciated.
Thanks,
We have requested quotes from the following P and S trailer in Ohio, Twisted Silver in Nashville, The Trailer Company in Melbourne Florida, and Trailer works in South Carolina. Has anyone used any of these companies and has a good or bad recommendation? If you know of anyone else, please let me know.

Has anyone replaced a panel with a salvage panel? Seems like there would be issues with hole alignment as well as a lot of labor removing a panel from a salvage unit. Thanks to all replies.

I'm new to the club. I'm 24 and a medic in the army and spent a few years in Iraq. I'm home now and this was the last thing on my wish list.

I live in Ohio and i found this on craigslist in Montana, in Februray. The army kept me busy all summer, so i couldnt make the drive out to Montana to pull her home and just broke down and had it put on a flatbed and brought out to me in ohio...

She needs some work, but i think in the long run i will still be on the low end, especially since its a 2008.

She rolled on the passenger side during her delivery to the dealership. So i'm the first owner and the interior is all intact. All she needs is new skin, so i took it back to the factory, took the tour and the guys there are working me up a quote....i m still waiting. SO i hope its under $12k and in the mean time, i'm planning some trips and soaking up all the airstream stuff

We are in the process of removing the body from the frame and are removing the bottom row of inside panels. As the panels come off I was concerned about the yellow insulation. Is this aspestous?

My husband and I bought our very first airstream and it needs a full restoration. We have removed all cabinets and shelves. Should we continue to remove the inside skin or do we remove body from frame with inside skin still attached?
