I am going to pull some with my Ford F150 instead of my Chevy. The Ford has a softer ride, not 4X4, smaller tires and sits a good 3 inches lower than the Chevy 1500.
I flipped the bar to raise the tongue for the Ford, it would drag the ground if I hooked like the Chevy.
Is this to high? The Chevy...

About 20 months ago our Ford Exploder caught fire. I suspected the cruise control speed disconnect switch had failed, even though it was an "orange cap", not the "black cap" switches covered under the original "it can catch fire at any time" recall. Lo and behold, yesterday I received notice from Ford that my Explorer might catch fire, don't park it in your garage or near your house and get it fixed. the ford recall is 09S09, NHTSA file is 09V399000. After a few chuckles I went on the NHTSA website and lo and behold the F250SD sitting in my garage IS ALSO BEING RECALLED!!!. And I have not been notified.....no sweat, I disconnected that switch the day our Exploder burned up. I highly recommend any F250, 350, etc owners 1999-2003 recheck the NHTSA website as this is a new recall for rigs not covered under the previous one. contact the FoMoCo recall folks @1-888-222-2751[ATTACH]90907
[full fresh water, grey & black empty, lots of stuff (in front living room, in mid-galley, in mid-bath) but no much stuff in rear bed room]

-----------------------
Tow vehicle only (6760 total: one driver, almost empty trunk, full tank of gas)
1) 3560 front, 3200 rear

Hitched (14140 total):
2) 3220 front, 4860 rear, 6060 trailer
After adjusting WD bars...
3) 3300 front, 4740 rear, 6100 trailer

More adjusting...
4) 3380 front, 4660 rear, 6120 trailer
And again... (at this point, WD bars are ratcheted very very tight)
5) 3440 front, 4560 rear, 6140 trailer

I'm still not convinced as to how I should set up my WD bars...

Your comments or insights will be much appreciated.

Currently driving with #5) setting. I will check back in a few hours.

Gotta be on my way. Sorry to be abrupt.
Thanks in advance.

I've been towing a Globetrotter single axle trailer for over twenty years. I'm now considering buying a new Flying Cloud 23FB, a dual axle unit.

Can anyone advise me as to what to expect towing a dual axle trailer compared to a single axle rig?

Also, and this is critical, I have a long driveway with some pretty tight turns and I'm concerned the the new trailer won't clear some of the obstacles around the turns. The Globetrotter is 20'8" overall and 13'0" from hitch to axle center. The new rig is 23'9" overall and 13'0" from hitch to the space between the wheels, so the first axle is closer to the hitch than that on the Globetrotter.

So the question is how do I measure the turning moment? Is it from the hitch to the first axle, the center of the two axles or to the second axle?

A secondary concern is the overhang from the wheels to the rear of the trailer. I don't know the measurement of the new rig, but I know it's at least two feet longer than the Globetrotter. The rear overhang affects the outside radius of turns where the hitch to axle distance affects the inside radius of turns. I'm not sure which is more important, but my first concern is to figure out if I can negotiate the obstacles on the inside turns.

Any help would be appreciated.
