The 40th annual Old Time Fiddlers Picnic will be held August 1-3, 2014 one mile South of Livingston, Montana (I-90) on US 89. Look for the signs. See fiddlerspicnic.blogspot.com for more details on the Picnic. It is a good deal more than a picnic and welcomes any players of roots music. Lots of jamming around the campground which is the Old Mercier Ranch. While there are spectators there are many more musicians.
Tin Can Tourists are invited to gather in conjuntion with the Picnic. We had a strong VAC and SOTF contingent in 2013. It is dry camping with no electric, but there are porta potties provided. The meat part of a potluck is provided on Sat and a free pancake breakfast on Sun. TCT memberships are available on site. We'll camp together on site. Wonderful to go to sleep with bluegrass, old timey, mountain, Celtic, cowboy, Western, gospel, country and gospel and the like.
Since there is a heavy emphasis on musicians we are hoping that many attendees also bring and play their instruments. Dogs are welcome but keep them under control. Too dry this time of year for open campfires but propane campfires are OK. We plan to have window ID cards and a dash plaque/nametag for campers plus a few trophies. But mainly this is just a great camp out.
Livingston is the Northern Gateway for Yellowstone National Park and the head of Paradise Valley which says it all. Chico Hot Springs is just down the road. The Yellowstone River flows down one side of the ranch for you flyfishermen.
