No phone, no shower no starbucks - what more could you want?
Lovely biking opportunities, great hiking, fields for fine kite flying and good company!
This rural spot has a group camp area with group fire ring, great views, a babbling brook, 2 lovely porto-lets, no electricity and a couple of potable water spigots. If you want to shower you can drive a couple of miles down the road to the county park or swim in the creek (elk will be watching...) Camping is in a grassy but not level field with some sparse trees - no sand, gravel or asphalt slabs anywhere! Plan to boondock and arrive with full water tanks and empty dump tanks. You can also fill your tanks as you arrive but BEFORE park, if needed.
Parking takes some planning and may be somewhat challenging. Almost all sites require backing but there is always help if you need it and an audience if you don't
Almost everyone will need to unhitch and park tow vehicles away from trailers. Camping fees are yet to be determined but will be approximately $17 per night (cash and check only). This fee extends to each tent pitched as well.
Area 33 - more farm-less park .
Hollenbeck Park located near Trout Lake WA
33 Mt Adams Rd.
Directions: From Hwy 141 North bound - Mt Adams Hwy
Bear right at Chevron Station (road splits) in town and go about 1/4 mile across creek. Fair warning - town is hard to recognize - a small market or two - that's all. This intersection is near the County campground
Left at 4-way intersection - look for sign to Hollenbeck park (hopefully out for the season), go about 300 yards down driveway
Right at Green Gates - go down somewhat bumpy road - sometimes gravel. This is an old runway (see hanger on left) -at the end of the runway cross irrigation ditch.
Camping to the left - we get the area with the fire pit and picnic table.. Please be careful about avoiding water spigots.
Just go ahead and park. One of the owners will come by on a small motorbike to collect. They do not take plastic! Checks OK.
Please check on the rally discussion thread for meal and arrival details. We will have a couple of pot lucks, lots of jamming and of course, Sunday morning Breakfast.
Dumping: there is no dump station here - but the County park - seen on map quest link does have a dump station. You may dump "not too gray" water out of the way. Don’t ask - don’t tell.
This place is not in any phone book and the directions are kinda like a treasure hunt. The owner works at a day job and do not advertise. Some portion of this land is a working farm.
RSVP! You must RSVP. Please note the length of your trailer in the RSVP notes - parking is carefully planned.
Garbage: Must be packed out or taken to county collection station several miles away.
Connectivity: last year we had decent ATT cell service and some internet
Rain: Be prepared - bring a book.
Cancellations: If you cannot make it please let me know - there may be a waiting list to attend.

Well, I'm sorry to say that work is getting in the way of play for this rally. We are working on a trailer restoration with a looming deadline and just can't get away. We will miss seeing everyone. Susan and Brad

I've decided to go to Scotland that weekend instead...first Area 33 ever that I will have missed. You'll have to ask the alien to be the cellist in the band this year, but I'll be wearing my tinfoil hat while in Scotland, so I'll be there in spirit! Mi...

Sadly, we will have to pull out at the last minute due to having to be out of our home by next week, which means we have to move a lot of stuff over the weekend. Next year, most definitely. We are very sorry to miss this great trip with great people.

Electrical issues will prevent us from coming this time. See you next year for sure.
