Well I should be installing the sheeting for the floor this week.. I have done two coats of spar varnish and will be apply the third coat after they are installed...I will be using 3/4 inch plywood on top of bubble foil insulation..I will be leaving the back sheet off for any plumbing that needs to be installed. after removing all the delaminated plywood the trailer smells a lot better ...I have also removed the bottom row of panels and insulation.. I am going to restore her as close to vintage as possible.. with a few changes for sleeping ... The cabinets are in my shop waiting to get work over .. I am still looking for a name for this beast... It will come to me in time .. I will post some pics as soon as I find my camera , it could be in the garbage bag of insulation I pulled .. ...

Sounds like you know what you are doing! We just were given a vintage airstream ourselves. It's been sitting for a very long time. We are guessing it's a 1954ish Safari. There are no vin tags anywhere...just a weird stamp of patton numbers on the frame or tongue. We want to start the restoring process and try and sell but we need to find out what kind..that would be a good start. Do you have any idea's?Posted 06-25-2009 at 06:10 PM by starmarrs
