In the cup, on the step

Why does the coffee taste best when sitting on the top step of my Airstream?
Maybe the care taken to make it in the absence of a coffee maker or the fresh open air makes a difference. I'm not really certain, but the simple act of sitting on the top step of my trailer, feet on the dirt, looking squinty eyed at the morning makes the steaming coffee in my cup seem like a magical elixer to be inhaled, gazed into and enjoyed fully.
Gertrude Stein said “Coffee is real good when you drink it, it gives you time to think. It's a lot more than just a drink; it's something happening. Not as in hip, but like an event, a place to be, but not like a location, but like somewhere within yourself. It gives you time, but not actual hours or minutes, but a chance to be, be yourself, and have a second cup.”
Sounds about right to me. mmm... coffee.
