Drove down from Bayou Segnette along Hwy 90W, LA 308S, then LA 1 south to the tip of the peninsula... a total of about 100 miles. Lots of little towns and fishing/shrimping/crabbing boats along Bayou Lafourche.
NOTE OF WARNING ON LA-1...
About a 2 mile stretch of LA-1 is a toll bridge. Not yet completed, but it is VERY vague how or where to pay the toll! There is NO toll both. Apparently you can pay for a pass at about 5 little businesses along the way... or at the main toll center, buried in a town along the way. It was only #3.75 for our vehicle and single-axle trailer... but if you don't pay within 2 DAYS there is a $25 fine!!! GO TO: "Geauxpass.com" and pay online. Save yourself some heartache and confusion.
Grand isle is 7 miles long and definitely an out-of-the-way place! Pulled into the state park... 4 campers in 50 sites, plus the host One out of two bathroom/beach houses out-of-service, washer & dryer broke. (But the Wi-Fi is working! and we got a cell phone signal! It's the 1st of December. Raining, dark and gloomy. Winds feel like about 30 mph and steady. 5 to 8 inches of rain predicted, possible gale-force winds. Donna's a bit on edge. I'm thinking of going for a walk. Got my Nikon weatherized with a plastic freezer bag ... More later. Could be a long night.
Well... the dawn breaks sunny and beautiful with broken clouds passing after the storm. The night was blustery with some high winds and rain between 1 and 2 am. Not a huge deal. Some minor flooding here on the campground roads.
