Drove 32 miles back up the road to Long Pine Key campground. Stayed another 2 days. Went into Homestead for some shopping, propane, Mexican food and phone calls as Verizon has NO signal down in the Everglades. This was only our 2nd tank of propane! $3.09 a gallon. The 30 lb. tank lasted us 2 months! Revisited the Anhinga Trail again (only about 3 miles from the campground)... this time we saw baby Anhingas in the nest with mom and a Northern Water Thrush! A very rare bird to see!... very cool! We spent 16 days in the Everglades... 4 with electric. Never had to use the generator. No electric, no water hook-ups, no cell signal, no internet, no TV reception.
Ahhhhhh Peace.
