Drove 246 miles northeast on US-54, touched into 3 states today. Crossed the corner of Texas, across the Oklahoma panhandle and into Kansas. "We're in Kansas NOW Dorothy!" Passed through Liberal, Kansas... home of Dorothy of OZ. Passed on seeing her house. Likewise the Dalton Gang Hideout in Meade and the 'World's Largest Hand Dug Well' in Greensburg. Got a spot in Pratt, at a decent little city park on the Ninnescah River, by a fish hatchery and ponds. The wind is roaring! Shaking the trailer, car and boat... feels like 50 mph. The afternoon was near 90º. Had to run the air conditioning for the first time this trip... third time in 2 1/2 years! Overnight low temp was 66º. Next day we walked around the fishing pond and did some shopping in town. In the afternoon it was 85º. As evening approached, the sky grew darker and the wind picked up again. In a half hour the temp dropped 20º! and kept going down into the 40's. We headed out next morning in a cool, gray day.
