Drove down US-27 to Sebring and into Highland's Hammock State Park, about 60 miles. Got a site in the back right next to where we stayed 2 years ago. We like this park quite a lot. Next day hiked all the trails in the park. Lots of various 'Hammocks' from young to old and beautiful Cypress swamps. There're some simply humongous trees in this park, Cypress and Live Oak...Incredible. Then we spent a couple days shuttling back and forth to Winter Haven as Donna had some emergency oral surgery. Saw Sandy and Benny again as she slept off the anesthesia one afternoon. Not so fun. Getting older sometimes sucks. Now she talks a little funny and I have even more trouble understanding her than I used to! She says my hearing is going I think it may be psychosomatic Checked out some other, cheaper camping in the area. Stumbled upon the Lake Wales Ridge State Forest. Bonus. Major Bonus.

Frostproof florida. boy that sounds great. Patty and I are sweepng 10 inches of snow off the car (in New Jersey) and looking forward to returning to Alabama and getting the Airstream loaded for the road. Your itinerary looks wonderful to us -- natural places, lots of hiking, biking and such. you don't seem to be having any trouble with crowds. Are the snowbirds in different types of places or are you reserving ahead? It's been years since we headed to Florida in the winter; looking really good right now. even Montgomery is in the teens!! Thanks for the great posts. Al and Pat Meyer
