Thank You to my new AS family.

Thanks for the encouragement guys. I have been polishing the front (as it faces the street) and can hardly get much work done for all the folks stopping to chat. Its almost as if some alien ship landed in my drive way and everyone is curious as if they never saw a AS before. I dont see any others around town, so I guess it is unique.Im a lil blue today cause its raining and I cant play As today
I have made a few new friends who I hope can help me I know nothing about AS's. I have lots of common sense and am very handy. I am exploring under the cabnets and access panels trying to find everything. I have so many questions like what is the female 3 prong plug looking thing on the lower front curb side panel next to the fresh water tank screw cap?
I dont want to restore everything to original working condition. in fact Id like to remove some things. I have my own ideas of how I want things to be such as I want my 12 volt system to run off my trucks 12 volt system and all I want are a few interior and exterior lights and maybe a 12 volt power supply port near the galley. This would only be to have light and or power while setting up camp or stopping at rest areas. I dont want inverters or 12 volt equipment operating like fans, gas heaters or water heater. I dont want propane anything( it scares me to death)
I want to put in a larger fuse box and go all electric. I want my plumbing to be water in and sewage out. No boondocking for me! Many of my components are there but are incomplete or broken or replaced with non-original equipment, such as 110 hot water heater under the sink. I want to experiment with replacing roof ac with a window unit mounted down where gas hot water heater access door is then run duct work thru the cabnitry . My funds are limited so replacing everything to original is out of the question.
I look forward to painting and decorating the interior for my first real over night camping trip as well as working on that shine on the outside.
Once again thank you to all my new friends for your help and support.

    NatchezBear,

You may want to start a thread in the '58-'63 Overlander forum. I think that way more members may see your questions and can help. You can also post more pictures in a thread we like lots of pictures. Good luck with your modifications.

I never thought I'd use those 12V outlets in either of my AS trailers until I realized that I can charge my cell phones with the car charger in them. Use your trailer before you start modifications, the AS people put a lot of thought into these older trailers. Congratulations on your new trailer.
