More on the road

It’s hot and it’s smoky but we’re in Albuquerque ( from now on ABQ ) and a part of 29 other Airstream rigs ready to go.
Hot because it is the desert after all but smokey because of the wildfires to the West. I’m sure that there will be some detours and adjustments that will need to be made because of the fire danger conditions, some washed out roads and because things just happen when you have this many moving parts.
So far, and this is day one by the way. We’ve had a couple locked out of their AS. Both sets of keys were safely inside the rig. Everyone tried the keys to their AS but no luck. Finally, someone climbed into the rig through the escape window and opened it from the inside. The lucky couple already had some blanks to get keys made but hadn’t done it yet.
This is a common occurrence with some AS doors. They can be sensitive and that’s why no one leaves this AS without a key. Plus we have a hid a key, just in case.
Next issue was a total power outage in one rig. The culprit was just having the AC on ( it’s hot remember ) the hot water heater kicking in and the final straw, a hair dryer on high. All those appliances drawing their peak at the same time. One blown circuit breaker. Easy enough to fix, if you’re a little familiar with how an AS is put together. This owner was very new and had a small panic attack. He ran from AS to AS until he found someone at home who came in and flipped the breaker. An AS electrical circuit can handle one of those at a time, not all 3.
On couple has called in from the road they're leaving from NC too. However, as of Saturday night, they were still in NC after some undisclosed issues. We’ll keep to our schedule and they’ll catch up eventually.
Remember our comrade we passed on the side of HWY40 and hooked up with later? Found out that on the way, so far, he has had a flat tire (3-hour wait for AAA ), a loose and almost falling off nut on his hitch and an issue with his antenna coming loose.
So life on the road is not for the unprepared or faint of heart.
Gaile and I are comfortably confident we’ve got most things in ship shape. I’m waiting for the inevitable to happen to us.
In the interest of full disclosure, I did have to replace my water hose end because of the old one splitting. That was easy enough. I also had to troubleshoot our gas grill but that was a loose connection. It was shaken loose from riding in the back of the truck.
We’ve had a great outing already. Within walking distance of a mile and a half behind a Jiffy Lube, there were hundreds of Petroglyphs ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petroglyph ). Gaile and I had the whole place to ourselves. Well, BB the poodle was with us too. She walked some, got carried some but, all in all, did a pretty good job of keeping up for a 13-year-old poodle.
There are plenty of companions for BB if she were social. There are several poodles a doodle or two and a few cats. There has been a very busy sniffing patrol as they get aquatinted. Pee-mail is overloading the bandwidth.
Our first official tour was of the ABQ Turquoise museum. We found out more than we ever wanted to know about turquoise. Very interesting history of this semiprecious stone. It is more valuable by carat weight than gold!
We’re still in very good wifi campgrounds. We’ve had to shut down our Facebook page. We thought we had put in enough safeguards and made it only available by invitation. We were shocked when several people we did not invite started commenting.
