Hello & Welcome:
This is the story of our 1972 AS Sovereign 31ft, we acquired in May 2008. We are the 3rd owners on record. Our AS was built at the Santa Fe Springs, CA plant; which has since closed. It was in pretty good condition when purchased. It still needs repairs and renovations as most do of this vintage.
Stay tuned and check back frequently to check on our progress, as we continue on our journey to “Infinity & Beyond”.
Happy Trailering !!!

Mary, Steve & Stephen

Vacation June/July 2008, Stop #4, Flagstaff, AZ: The Grand Canyon

Flagstaff also had great trees and landscape. We went to the Grand Canyon, or as my teenage son calls it : "the big hole in the ground"

. I had been there many years ago, but Steve & Stephen had not. We rode the train there from the depot. The increased elevation was fun to deal with while walking the trails, as was the heat (100f). The train ride was fun, but our steam locomotive broke down about 45 min. into the ride up and they had to send the diesel to take us the rest of the way. We were in the A/C car, which if you go during summer I highly recommend. Those folks in the un-air conditioned cars were miserable while waiting for the new engine. I planned for the A/C car because I knew after walking around all day we would appreciate it. Little did I know we would get stuck and need it on the way up to the canyon. Make sure you bring with plenty of drinks, as there is only one place at the canyon to buy anything and it's pricey.
We stayed at the KOA. It was a very nice campground, set back in the trees. Sites were a little close together, but ok.
We also spent a day looking for bargains at local thrift shops. We found a cool vintage chair to use in the AS.
This was the last stop on our trip before heading home. We spent a total of 11 days on the rode, about 1800 miles round trip.
