Hi, I am a new airstreamer

I bought this on impulse from a neighbor. It seems so huge. I had a smaller one years ago, a 1960ish 22 or 23 footer that I had to sell to get my son into a private school.
Looking back at old pics of it to determine what it is has not been helpful-as none have the top pannels or door in pic.
This one has the 8 track player in it still, just put new floors in, next is caulking and new trim.
It will have to stay pretty retro as I only know how to do surface work. Still trying to figure out how get the furnace to blow hot, or refig to get cold. Have to hire professionals for that.
I love the forums, have learned so much! Thanks all for the posts I have read, and for the new posts to come.
I will park her in Hornbrook CA, if there is ever a rally near Yreka, I will see you there.
Dianne

Hey Dianne,
Welcome to the community and thanks for staring a blog! This would be a great place to add a blog entry each time you add an upgrade, fix something, etc. It will help people see what you are doing, chime in with some comments and hopefully be of use to another Airstreamer that comes along with a similar project.
Welcome aboard!

If both the furnace and the refrigerator aren't doing their respective "thing" perhaps one might investigate the fill state of the LP gas tanks. If full and turned on showing full green at the regulator, then perhaps there's a leak or blockage in the line -- neither functions very well on less than full flow through the regulator (by which I mean they want the regulator tank indicator thrown over to indicate the full tank, if one is empty). Also check the exhaust ports on both for spider webs and wasp nests - again, they don't like to work if they can't "breathe."
Good luck - she's a beauty.Posted 06-10-2008 at 07:40 PM by olddog299

Hey (in Georgia "Hey" = Hi) Dianne,
You have found the very best place on the Internet to research Vintage Airstream questions. I am not an Airstream guru by any means, but there are a ton of folks here that are and I highly value their advise and opinions.
They have run into the same problems you might have encounter, researched all available solutions, and found the best possible cost efficient way of fixing the problem with available resources.
If you study the archives here, you will find people that have photographed and documented their projects, step by step, through a retro fit / repair of the same model or sister model of Airstream that you have.
Your Airstream looks like a beauty. Everyone here, including myself always love to see a ton of photographs.
As a rule, the more photos we see, the more responses you get as to particular things we see that may need attention.
You have a great resource here for advice in finding Vintage Airstream part that are no longer available from Airstream.
I'd love to know how things are going with your Airstream project and to see more photos of you Vintage Airstream.
Welcome,
