DAY 66 - Sat Mar 28
Slow moving morning, way too many 'free drinks' last night in the casinos.
We picked our niece up, who lives in Vegas, and took her on a tour of the town. We had a great day with her, complete with lunch on the rooftop tiki bar at Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville. We did Fremont St and were glad to see the old Vegas neon signs displayed there. We saw the water show at the Bellaggio, and it was wonderful. The show was accompanied by the song "All That Jazz" and was really quite moving. It was a long day, and we were very tired once we delivered our niece back to her mother.
DAY 67 - Sun Mar 29
We had a rough night trying to get some sleep as the neighbours in the hotel were quite noisy. We discovered a major water leak in our room from the room upstairs, and had to pack our things until the hotel could get us a new room later in the day. It was a bright sunny morning, and we took a drive out of Vegas through Red Rock Canyon. It's very beautiful there and was quite busy with many hikers and bicycle riders. We drove on to Parumph which is quite the bustling little city and then passed and Air Force Base and a prison just down the road. We carried on past Mount Charleston (they just closed the skiing facilities there and there was still quite a lot of snow on the mountain), and then back to Vegas. We took a short drive down the Strip to catch the Bellaggio show at night, but due to the high winds, the show was cancelled. We were disappointed, and decided to drive to Fremont Street to catch the night-time show there. It was quite spectacular, and the music was "The Day The Music Died". The crowd was dancing and singing along -- it was great!
We headed back to our room for some much needed sleep.
DAY 68 - Mon Mar 30
Our new room was on the other side of the hotel facing North on the strip and so we could see Circus Circus, the Riviera and beyond.
We were up and on our way back to Arizona by 9:30AM. We stopped in Searchlight for breakfast, and dropped more in the slots than what breakfast cost!! We got back to our Aunt's house around noon, and just hung out until dinner. We had a great home-made meat loaf dinner before heading for bed.
DAY 69 -Tue Mar 31
Another beautiful day with hi's about 85 today. Finally got a good night's sleep, back in our own beds in the trailer. We hung out at the house most of the day.
DAY 70 - Wed Apr 1
Happy Birthday to our Youngest Grandson ! !
Beautiful warm morning with hi's in the 80's again today. We took our Aunt to lunch at Casa Serrano's Mexican Restaurant and had some margaritas and great food.
DAY 71 - Thu Apr 2
Another beautiful day with hi's about 85 today, and a little windy. We took a drive to the nearby KOA park at the Avi Casino to see about dumping the trailer. They charge $5, so we'll do that tomorrow. More relatives showed up so we went back to Casa Serrano's for their free food happy hour and more margaritas. It was great fun and good food again.
DAY 72 - Fri Apr 3
Cool night, but a sunny morning and more than just a little wind. We hooked the trailer up and took it over to the KOA for dumping, and then took it for a bath while we were already out. The water here is very hard, and so it left the truck and trailer both streaky and spotty. Not too much you can do about the hard water, but at least it was cleaner. Lots of sand blowing around, so it's difficult to keep things clean.
DAY 73 - Sat Apr 4
Cool night and a cool morning, and just a little windy again today. Wind seems to be the biggest weather problem here. We went out to check out two 13-panel Airstreams in the neighbourhood. They look like no one is using them, but no one was home at either place. We'll try again another day. We stopped by a thrift store and a swap meet, bought a few things, then took our Aunt to The Can Bar and Restaurant for lunch. We then took a drive to Oatman again to pick up a books we'd seen there the last time and didn't buy. There were many motorcycles there today, and a few old cars. We decided to take the drive on Old Route 66 to Needles CA, then back to Fort Mohave. It's quite the drive on Old 66 with it's twists and turns. It was fun and we had a great time.
