Firing up the electrical system

Posted 10-20-2009 at 07:55 PM by Globie64
With the Globie sitting in the driveway and the Por15 drying, something compelled me to see what happened when I connected the Airstream to the house with the big black cord. I had had the battery and connections to the tow vehicle replaced, and the battery powered the lights and fans, but I was curious about the Univolt and the whole line voltage system. I got a fire extinguisher close by, opened up the connection on the back of the trailer, and connected the cable. I plugged in the other end, and went back to the trailer to smell for smoke. I sat down on top of the john, opened the cabinet, flipped the circuit breakers and the Univolt started humming. Nothing weird.. yet. I went back to the compartment and switched it to 120v, everything o.k. so far. All the lights worked, and the outlets, so I plugged in the boombox, put in a cd and sat down with a glass of wine. So, with the exception of a few burned out bulbs the electrical system functions, and one big thing is crossed off the list. Relief.
